Title: New Laptop, HELP!
Post by: TheZap on May 12, 2009, 04:24:09 PM
So my mom got a new laptop, well its not really (new), but its new to me.
The only problem is that it is used, and well there is a password =.=, how do I get passed the password >:O!
Its probibly the best laptop in our house, except the whole password part.... Its a Compaq, Windows Vista, Wide Screen, ect.  I like Vista idk what people are talkin about because Vista seems way better then XP, well to me.
So ya, the owner password is a pain in the ass, so ya, any easy way to get threw?

Download (on a separate) PC, a program called "OphCrack" from Sourceforge. Download the Vista Live CD build.

Burn that to a disk using an image burning program (I recommend ImageBurn) and then BOOT into that disk on the laptop you're having trouble with.

It should crack the password within a few minutes. O:)

Well. Easiest way because MS patched the bug that lets you just delete the SAM file and logon without a user...

This way he gets the pass and can change everything around and reset the password without reinstalling.
