Title: Sound Reactive LEDs LM386 or 2N2222 Transistor?
Post by: atomicfart3514 on May 22, 2009, 04:19:11 PM
I have put together the transistor mod successfully, but I want to put together a LM386 mod to compare. But, before I spend the money on the resistors (191k and 30k), I want to check with you guys whether it is true that the LM386 mod is less reactive on a PSP Slim? Because all the LM386 mods I've seen are on Phats. For what I have read the transistor produces a more reactive mod then the LM386.

Any information would be very helpful.
Thanks,
B. Lin

Trust me, the lm386 on slim is almost solid, it only flickers very finely. I wouldn't even call it "sound pulse". Sorry I can't find a video right now but I've seen it. You are going to be getting a MUCH better reaction from the 2n2222.

Don't even try it. I have a video of an lm386 on a slim, and it barely even reacts. Here's the vid:

Believe it or not, the Direct Contact method is extremely reactive.

Would the transistor method make them brighter?

Its about the same, the transistor is more reactive than direct though.
