Title: How Do I Water-proof LEDs?
Post by: bustinthejustin on May 22, 2009, 05:48:32 PM
Hey guys I got an unusual request the other day... Some kid wanted LEDs on their toboggan. The wiring and everything's not hard, the hard part will be waterproofing the LEDs and batteries. The LEDs, I can probably use some clear caulking to seal, but for the battery pack, I want the batteries to be changable. I also want to add a switch. Any idea how I'll waterproof the switch and battery pack?

Thanks!

u could use a rubber seal on a project case, that might seal it. this is kinda drastic but if u could get an o-ring for the toilet sealer u might be able to use that but its a pain in the ass. its possible but not something u should attempt without background in it

Yeah hot glue, I was thinking about it, but I decided caulking will be stronger. As for what Kink says, I hae no idea how to do any of that, so I'm just not gonna even bother. I really only need this to be able to keep out snow, and maybe a bit of water as the snow melts, and really, not much snow should even hit the battery pack. But, someone suggested using like a metal candy tin of some sort to contain the Battery compartment. It won't be perfect, but do you guys think it'll work?
