Mostly distortion, clean once in a while...rarely though

isnt distortion as good as your pedal not the guitar, imo it is.

cos distortion is getting the sound of your guitar ruining (hence 'distorting') it, so to speak.

I know about the pedals, I just want a better guitar first, use that to get my finalized set up down the line, lol

Hmm what i meant is certain instruments are better distorted, some have an exeptional and versitile alround tone and some are good clean

Paul Reed Smith (PRS) is by far the most versitile guitar on the market but pricy

A fender telecaster will absolutely trump anything at all with regards to clean tone

Les Pauls/Imitations are Great distorted guitars and have a reasonable clean tone

After that you have the brands you suggested, As it's been said Washburn and Ibanez make really good instruments (when im not bassing it i play a washburn imitation les paul thingy) I play shecter basses and they are frankly just amazing for the price paid, avenged sevenfold and papa roach are examples of great electric guitar tone, my bands guitarist plays an ibanez les paul copy and that also is really great.

Ashton is also good for the el cheapo solution
