So my friend just gave me a broken DS lite for free... I'd love to fix it - originally it had a broken top screen, my friend must have messed something up while replacing it, because now it just shows the green LED, but the screens never come on.
weird thing though, one time out of the 20 times i tried booting it up, the screens actually DID come on, and it showed the warning/tap to continue screen
does it sound like a blown fuse, or something? :help:

Sounds like the top screen isn't fully connected to the mobo. Open it up and make sure it is plugged all the way in.

yeah... i tried that several times, but it still only manages to come on randomly. I think it's the ribbon cable on the top screen - it's very hard to get it in the hinge - and it may have been damaged during the process - I guess i'll try a new screen (again) then :P

Best of luck to ya let us know how it turns out. Losing a console is always a sad thing. =/

Well, it's not as painful since I got it for free - but it'd be awesome to get it working again!
Is neither screen turning on a symptom of the ribbon cable being bent?
The mainboard seems to be fine - supposedly it's failing a systems check? (due to the "missing" top screen?)

Hi - it will be the Wifi block needs changing :-)
-
it is your rma chip that is the problem , bad joints.
-
How do you repair the RMA chip? heat with a heat gun to re-melt the solder?
-
I would bet your top screen is no good.9 out of 10 that I've fixed did the same thing. One bend in the ribbon cable will ruin it as their very fragile.
