what is the best way to paint the xbox 360 logos on the sides of the case so it has a clean finish to it?
thnx
-
to JUST paint the logo would be difficult, but you could tape of the area, paint it lightly then lightly sand the area. Or buy fine tip paint pen and go slowwwwwwwww
-
Or like most pros do they make section of the logo on sticky paper and do one layer and section at a time.
-
or u could put a piece of masking tape over the xbox logo and carefully cut out the letters in the tape and spray
-
Yea thats an option is that what he wanted or did he actually want the xbox logo or something.
-
my plans were to paint the case black and have either a gold or silver logo on the sides of the case. would the best method for doing this be masking out the area and cut out the area? (i was thinking that was probably the best way) would it come out clean if i did that?
thnx alot!
-
Yea first apply the gold cuz im not sure gold will go over black so mask the part that you want the logo with gold then mask over when dry and apply the black.
-
gold goes over black fine. masking the area is going to be the tough part. if i ues krylon fusion spray paints, is there need for sanding?
-
Oh ok well yea you try a little bit of sanding but with very fine sandpaper like wet sandpaper they use for car finishes.
-
only probelm about sanding is that if i sanded one area, its gonna be flat black that is a little bit lighter in color (im using gloss black krylon fusion) and the rest is glossy. any alternative so that i wouldnt have to sand the entire thing to be the flat black since it is a bit lighter?

Spray through a stencil first, then airbrush in the detail.

i dont have an airbrush machine. i managed to paint the logos (kinda crappy but being frustrated for so long, this will do). now i wanna do that words on the faceplate. the "memory unit" words. now those are very small! any advice on that one?
-
This may be off topic but does anyone know a clear coat besides enamel clear coat.
-
i have a can of "BLAIR Gloss" (that i stole form art class >.< ). its stuff that you use for art work. i looked on the can i dont see the word "enamel" once on there. so maybe??
-

yup! thats the same exact can i have at home. im not 100% sure its enamel or not though. (im not a paint expert >.< ). but whats the downside of enamel clear coats?
-
Hmm well from that can says it protects and all. But about the enamel clear coat it sometimes it feels sticky when its hot so i that feeling and it wears off after awhile.
-
i see i see. well hopefully blair does the trick. good luck! ims till trying to figure out how to paint the words "memory unit" on the faceplate
-
Yea its hard to paint words most people do it with permanent markers so give that a try but draw it out with a graphite pencil first.

use a paint pen, I don't know where you can buy them, but they do the trick in art :D
-
do they have gold paint pens that are fine enoguh to fit the crack on the words?
-
I used paint pens on plastic it didnt work so well got smudgy and all.
-
for my logos, what i did which kinda worked but its not crisp clean is i masked off areas that i could. and then sprayed the gold over the black case. once it dried, i sprayed some of the same black paint into a little cup and had a small brush to paint over the gold areas that snt able to mask. t covered it up but u can sometimes see the marks n the light. i tried masking the entire logo and use a razor blade to cut out the logo, but it didnt rreally work and i gave up
-
Idk if i mention you could of cut out the logo on the piece of tape and place it on before spraying if your good at cutting.
-
would i print the logo onto tape somehow?
-
Yea you can get like sticker paper to that.
-
by any chance would you know the font size and font type for the Xbox logo on the side and the "memory unit"? thnx
-
Oh man i dnt know. The factory would have to tell you.
-
oh ok thnx. ill probably figure something out
