I've already thought up some ideas for it, but all I'm disclosing at the moment is a parts list.
Red/Blue bicolor 0605 smd leds
Sickmods LED Fader Deluxe
lm386n
2 Razor X's
Clear Ghost shell
SNES controller
The DSL dummy GBA cart
Plus the usual. Kynar, DIP switches, solder, etc., obviously.
Feel free to throw your input in, and suggest more mods to do! I've still got $20 on my Visa debit card, and would love to spend it on more modding parts for this project.
Any further ideas?
Oh, and pictures throughout the project plus a full walkthrough video of the mods when it's finished.
-
Put two LED's in the squares on the back (the DS logo)and have them change colour at different times i.e. when the top squares red the bottom one is blue and vice versa.
-
I'm just putting all of the leds on switches.
What you just inspired for an idea, was having the leds on an internal clock so that on a set interval the fade out and fade into the opposite color... I don't have a clue how I'd do that though.
-
get some 8 directional tact switches instead of trackballs.
-
I guess I didn't mention everything is ordered. Nah, I wanted trackballs anyway.

Actually, dual nubs woulda been the :censored: but would have cost too much for me.
-
That's why I said 8 way tact switches. They feel a little bit different but they are about the same and they are smaller and easier to put in. Plus they only cost $4-5 each. You may be able to do both
-
Mehhh. Well, besides that, any other ideas?

Make them switchable
-
The trackballs?
-
and the dual nubs. just have little squares in the case where you can just take them out and put the dual nubs/trackballs in. That would be sweet.
-
...the trackballs are super small. I'm not doing nubs either...
-
You don't seem to get what I'm saying. Yes I know the trackballs are super small so are the nubs too. They are about the same size. If you don't want to do it I can't force you too :winker:
-
What are you talking about...the nubs are huge.
o_O

Alright...:censored: the trackballs. They came in today and are huge >=[
I'm thinking of going for dual nubs instead. Meh. I don't want to spend more money though..

Bump!
Okay so this is postponed because I'm waiting on my case, wire, nubs, razors, and now switches to come in.
Here's a little thing I whipped up in Eagle CAD for part of this project. First time using it, I LOVE it.

Very cool Kicks, can't wait to see the finished project sounds bloody wicked.

I had to re-do my schematics because I realized the LEDs were all wired in series...but it's fixed now =D
Here's another for some more wiring. This will be hard. xD

Alright, wire and case are in so I worked on the case a little bit to make it fit properly, and worked on the snes controller a little bit.
Will have Razor boards by the end of the week, I think, and will be ordering new switches and nubs at the end of the week as well. This will be, hopefully, done by the end of next week.

All buttons now wired up =D
Schematics are out of date, also, don't follow them.

Back wiring

Nice job so far dude!!!
-
looks great so far
-
=D
Tonight or tomorrow I can order the switches I need along with the psp nubs. :D
Until the rest of the stuff is ordered and comes in, the most I can do is wire up LEDs and the controller, which is what I'll be doing tomorrow.
-
can you post pics of the controller/parts you have?
-
I'm not home till tomorrow afternoon. I will when I get home :3
-
cant wait till i see how this comes along! :dribble:
-
Well, the motherboard hasn't been worked on any more, yet.
The SNES controller is fully wired but...obviously I screwed something up because it's not working properly. It's constantly pressing buttons and most buttons don't work. Weird. Most likely the cart wired wrong.
Still waiting on some stuff to come in... like my switches, a special IC, analog nubs(have to be ordered), razors(have to talk to jumbo), and some other special parts.
Also, when this is done and if it goes along properly, there will be a new tutorial up for how to do the lm386 sound reactive mod...properly. :D
-
bump
-
Right then.
Waiting on razors, nubs, switches, and a free component. Then I can finish working.
-
Wait you're adding two analog nubs to the ds? thats sick. You should make a tutorial on it.
-
Please do not bump old topics, make a new one if you wish to....
-
It's not an old topic. Leave him alone.
I'll be working on this later for a little. My analogs are on the way, but I'm having 2nd guesses about whether or not I'm going to even put them in. I have no Razor Xs yet, either.
-
what parts do you still need?
-
Just the razors I have nowhere to get them from now. My nubs are on their way. I might just put the razors in something else, instead, though.
-
I have a couple razor 1s if your interested. I'll sell them to you for cheap if you want. Much cheaper then the $25 per razor on coolmods.
-
I'll think about it
-
Waiting on the original razors from tri edge and once I get those in I'll work on this more. I need to pick up a hotglue gun though lol. Might not put the razors in, depending on the size.
