I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TRY THIS TILL I VERIFY THAT IT WORKS!!
Well i've been trying to figure out a way to make a true sleeper and heres a few of the 1st pics. Not 100% its gonna work but im going to give it a hell of a shot.
I do not use the play and charge port on the controller since i have 6 rechargeable batteries and 3 chargers, so i've decided to try to disable the play and charge port and use it for programing

USED FIBERGLASS BRUSH TO CLEAN THE AREA AROUND THE PnC SOLDER CONNECTIONS SO IT WOULD BE EASIER TO FIND ALL THE TRACES

CUT THE TRACES AT THE RED LINES

TRACES CUT AND TESTED WITH A CONTINUITY TESTER TO ENSURE THE TRACE WAS FULLY CUT

Controller tested after cutting traces, all buttons still work.

I would like to see where you go with this
How are you planning on making the charge n play port into a USB thing?
Are you gunna use a charge and play cable, and solder up the connection points on the controller to the viking bored ?
hope this makes sense :L
-
I think i get it. I cant wait to see it done dude :D
This is awesome
-
dude thats a great idea, Plus won't that leave a few extra pins for some other use?
-
Can't wait to see more. Hope it works out...
-
looks great cant wait
-
just got back from buying a PnC cable, will post more pics soon.
i think this is gonna work no prob, but PnC covers the sync button so i gotta figure out a work around for that. i have a idea.
-
I had this idea one time, but could never be bothered to buy a cable. Haha. This sounds like it's going to turn out pretty amazing, gameroms.
One question though, where can I buy one of those fiberglass brushes?
-
here is the fiberglass brush
http://cgi.ebay.com/German-fine-1-7-mm-fiberglass-scratch-brush-pen-tool_W0QQitemZ310082223370QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4832573d0a&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 (http://cgi.ebay.com/German-fine-1-7-mm-fiberglass-scratch-brush-pen-tool_W0QQitemZ310082223370QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4832573d0a&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116)
refills for fiberglass brush
http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-2-thin-1-7-mm-fiberglass-scratch-brush-refills_W0QQitemZ400039004170QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5d242ec80a&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-2-thin-1-7-mm-fiberglass-scratch-brush-refills_W0QQitemZ400039004170QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5d242ec80a&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116)
if you want a cheaper one all you have to do is search ebay for fiberglass brush, but i've dealt with that company several times and never had a problem.

Thanks.

cleaning the PnC cable pcb now so i can be sure all traces are cut.
im gonna try to make this as easy as possible so anyone can do it, i think you will need a fiberglass brush to help see all treaces and clean quickly.
-
I just got my viking in today but I can't wait to install it. I guess this project gives me a reason to buy another kit and cg controller. ;)
-
just got with viking to ensure i had the pin header labeled correctly before i started install.
-
yeah this will definitely be possible, you just need to solder the Data -, Data +, and GND up to the original locations of the pin header on the viking chip. Which is basically the same concept that I did on my Internal USB Duo Setup :victory:
-
project coming along nice, i removed the chip and all smt resistors from the PnC pcb and plugged it in to controller and used my continuity tester to test continuity from the usb plug to the controller pcb. everything working perfect. now to disable the +v wire from the PnC pcb since its not needed.
