Title: Need help with led xbox 360 mod
Post by: Santana(andAhalf) on July 18, 2009, 09:38:19 PM
I tried it over and over and i cant get it to work, i think its the resister, someone told me to get a 47ohm resister for one red led thats forward voltage is 2.6 max and its forward current is 28mA, also the control is a wireless but i have the wire with no batteries, so i guess its a wired control lol. Any help?

unsure who told you to get that resistor, but I think they were wrong. you need a 15 ohm 1/8watt resistor.

here is a handy calculator you can use n the future

thxs for the help but how do you know the voltage of the device(controller), its not like i dont trust you its just i want to be 100%. Also do you need two different colored 30 awg wire or can you use the same color, ex: 2 black wires or you need 1 black and one red for positive and negative. Thxs for all the help.

as long as you know what wire is what use whatever color u want. if it is going to be seem I use all the same color and mark the ends..

as for the controller voltage, you can test it with a meter, you can search the forums, or you can trust me. LOL the controller runs off two 1.5v batteries. it runs around 3v. (depending on type and where you get the power from. if its a matrix and you use the normal switched point, its only 2V supply and you need to do the math again.)if you use a wired controller, it sees 5V....if you use a wireless with a play and charge kit, there is no supply change still 3V

Also santana who can get this devise that will help you read voltage, resistance and amps. Its called a multimeter very handy tool and will help you in the future to find any of those options.Just wanted to point that out.
If your using the wireless controller with the wired component that connects it to the 360 then it will be 5v since the power is coming from the 360 its self to the controller instead of 3v from the battery pack.
