Title: Game disc scratch prevention foam question

I was wondering how effective does those foam pads work for the dvd drive to prevent discs from scratching?  and if they do work, what is the thickness of the foam?

The ones off llamma.com?
I actually got them and they dont work... There too big and they touch the disk and make really loud annoying noices and slow teh disk down..

any other way to prevent them from happening?  maybe foam that is thinner than llama's foam?  was the annoying sound frequent?
