uploads speeds are generally lower compared to download speeds .... This is determined by the ISP , though in ur case... the proportion seems a bit too low...

upload speeds suck in the UK cos we use copper wire connection, not cable.

Upload speeds ALWAYS suck compared to download speeds. That's just how they work. =[

SHE'S paying for that. It's just the internet she's paying for. She's paying for high upload speeds, or the plan she's got has high upload speeds.

choose a closer server lol

ping is the time of delay between sender and receiver for a single packet of data, for those that dont know. Measured in milliseconds.

there's nothing that we can do about it, sadly. ping is different for every website we visit. because each website has their own server, each in a different place. That's why some game servers have lower pings than others, cos the server is physically closer to you. Also if you're torrenting that can severely impact on bandwidth and transmission of data sometimes.

Virgin Media uses Fibre Optic and not copper wire :)
