The Panasonic HT system seems like a good one for the simple reason that i trust well known and established brands... I cant really say about the display though.
Why dont u look around for the one i bought , its priced lower than all others and looks fantastic... (Benq G2412HD)

Because I want an HDTV...not a computer monitor.
And I can always make that HT system $100 cheaper...and get the wired one instead of the wireless. Wireless gives me more freedom, though, but if I'm putting the speakers where I think I will...I won't need the wireless.

Black Friday kinda....eh...I don't find many good deals, xD
-
still, if you bought the wireless ones you could put them wherever you want without worrying about speaker wire running all over the place. so if you can see yourself moving them somewhere else anytime soon, might be a good idea.

I wish we had a black friday :/
On topic, awesome :)

If u are talking about composite/component inputs from ur STB ... then there are composite/component to VGA/DVI/HDMI cables available...
-
No.. You have a CABLE television signal coming into your house for internet/television. You need that CABLE line to the tv...the physical cable itself is a coaxial cable.
Don't you have a tv? lol
Monitors don't have this coaxial cable input which is why they can't be used...
And, last time I checked my cable box upstairs, there are NO video out ports...nothing. Cable line goes in; cable line goes out to the tv.

We use a STB (Set Top Box) for television here in India and i presumed that the American Digital TV transition also meant shifting to those coz when we shifted to digital television , it became mandatory to use a STB for either DTH or CAS........
-
We've been using digital here for pretty much as long as I've been alive..or most of that time.
It's just recently that they STOPPED using analog as well.
lol

we have tvs using STBs and some without em. you would need a box with hdmi out, plug that into the ht system, and hook an hdmi to dvi adapter to the hdmi cable coming from the ht system, and plug that into the monitor. some monitors have hdmi inputs too, so you might not even need the adapter.
