what you could basically do is,
take out the "sim" and put it back in, if this fails
try jailbreaking it again with the "sim" in. if that fails
try jailbreaking without the "sim".

well basically that's the problem...the sim that the at&t provided is no

longer with him...and we are not really familiar with JB..

totally noob when it comes to iphone..

is there any way we can restore the phone..

Why would you restore it? You've already been given the answer, listen to them. You need to jailbreak the phone and unlock it again since you said it's not an AT&T sim. Google. Download redsn0w if you're on 3.0 and jailbreak it then install ultrasn0w. It's EASY. It's pressing a single button. If that can't be done then you guys don't deserve to have it fixed.

i am listening to what they are saying!my point is that i'm not really

familiar with the iphone...what i meant with restoring is having the

normal functions as it was before it was reset..i get the JB thing..

and wtf you're trying to say with

"If that can't be done then you guys don't deserve to have it fixed."

btw you really annoys me when you answer other people's reply..

as i said earlier i'm totally noob when it comes to iphone so don't try

dissing me just because you know something about the iphone!

YOU DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING!

Your help has been said...multiple times.

Jailbreak it, install Ultrasn0w, and then you'll be fine. Again.

ok download redsn0w 0.8.0 (latest to my knowledge.) and Iphone OS 3.0 ispw for your version of the iPhone from somewhere (google it) and put both in a folder called iPhone (or something similar. this is just for easy access).  then run redsn0w, which will prompt you to browse for iPhone OS 3.0.  if you have a 2g the file it wants is iPhone1,1_3.0 followed by some characters and then followed by restore, If you have a 3g it will want iPhone1,2_3.0 and if you have a 3gs (and if you do you are a lucky bastard lol) it will want iPhone2,1_3.0 (I believe, if it is not this then it is similar.)  after that for a 2g you need to do a few more things to unlock (download a few more things. it will tell you what it needs, just google torrents or something for those files) and follow the instructions on the screen.  with 3g(s) go to blog.iphone-dev.org to learn how to unlock.

if that doesnt help pm me and i will try and help you further.
