Programming Hardware should work the same for Mac or PC.... it is the software that will give you issues.  Most programming software should work well on a windows emulator or whatever the kids use on their macs in order to get windows programs to work.  Programming is a serial transmission of code so there is nothing revolutionary that happens from a PC the cant be achieved with a Mac.

Mactastic Mendez would be able to point you in the right direction for anything Mac... hes got Mac Voodoo.

if it is arduino then they do mac versions - http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software (http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software)

im not to sure about other mac specific programming software. but im sure you could use bootcamp, parellels, vmware or one of the other windows emulators to run windows programming software. i personally would recommend vmware as that is what i have used in the past
