pretty much this topic is pointless. Personally no os is in any complete overall advantage to other

Linux: Great for very experienced computer users, but pretty un user friendly and in no way could someone who never has touched a computer before use linux easier than mac or windows. But pretty much the possabilities of linux are limitless. also its free

Windows: Overall pretty user friendly, and pretty much every program available will work with windows, and most the time based off windows. it doesnt get viruses like people say. mostly i find the ones who say this have no real experience with windows, or alot of the time computers in general. also windows is very effecient as far as working on it goes.

Mac: probably the most user friendly. imo its the best for stuff like music or video editing. Also macs are really nice looking as far as the os and the computers themselves. Not virus free though. they are a little better with viruses than windows most the time, but macs can get viruses. Im pretty sure in the next few years viruses for macs will be big because until recently macs havent been as popular so viruses havent really been made to target them much, but now macs are becoming really popular.  Also macs are really expencive.

Well that is pretty much my little opinion on all of this even though i know everyone in here really justs wants to argue about what i better anyways, but i just though id put a little bit in there. Personaly though I do prefer windows, but its probably because im more used to everyhing on it more.

You gotta love the PCs pathetic attempts to put the Macs down...
"No right click" Look up a Mac that isn't 30 years old.

I know I have a clone :P. "Advent" written on the lid kinda gave it away.
Akoya... No bluetooth and No overclocking. But has Wireless N...
I can upgrade mine to an Apple N card if i want to lol. I'm happy with the Advent. Its only like £20 more. Nevermind I got mine for £170 xD

Also, I said that in the Pic is a MSi Wind. Not mine, but it kinda is, only with a different name.

My PC only cost me £465, and it is a quad core with 4GB ram and 4870, and I can max out crysis,  now im pretty sure a mac book pro, the 15inch and 17inch versions might be able to handle it.

But then agian they cost around £1500 - £2000

And how many laptops do you know can do that?
+ Decent battery life.

Macs hardware is expensive. But for good reason. The build quality is superior.

And yeah. I'm a hackintosh too. I don't earn enough to spend £200 on a laptop. £1000 (minimum) is out of the question for me :P.
When I get disposable income. I promise. I will buy the hardware xD.

My brothers dell laptop has almost identical specs to the really expensive macbook pro yet it cost £600, and i'd say the one he got is good quaility

Dont get me wrong, macs are great, i just think of them as like designer clothing compared to normal clothes, but compared to pcs. You can get a much better spec machine for less money, but you don't because of the brand

And a Whole 30 minutes of battery :O lmao.

And yeah, they are kinda "Designer" computers.
Bit like when the iPods first came out. You had to have this £200 mp3 player. Or you weren't cool.

Apple computers just aren't well advertised.
Windows advertises the crap out of everything.
Apple is more like "Yeah, we exist too... Uh... Think different?"

LOL
Thanks W-Gaming, you made my day.

Not that I've had any of those problems. And I have the same kind of Mac he drop-kicked xD.
Point is Macs are expensive PCs now. None of that "PPC pwns teh Pentiumz lol" BS anymore.
If you have to reinstall OSX on your Mac, (which is very rare compared to reinstalling Windoze). Everything works out the box... None of that finding the driver bull:censored:. I mean, who wants to do that? I'm the only person in my family immediate family. Including Grandparents, who knows what a driver is. Sure I get money for fixing their computers.
Only problem concerning a Mac, I have ever had to deal with was replacing a superdrive. The guys a pro photographer and burned CDs like mad. And this is an old G4. Which only recently had this problem.
If you had a PC that old. It would be obsolete.

@the people arguing how the pros can get a better spec computer cheaper:

Even though that's true how come most professionals still buy macs?  every company I have gone (and I have gone to a lot) Most of the people I see have a mac.

I think that macs are more of a business computer then a home computer and hence the premium price tag.

Graphic design companies,  Webpage design companies, Video game companies (it was about 50/50 here).  My brother even owns one for his business and then my other brother has one for his music.

Video game companies don't use macs, ever heard of Mark Cale?My friend Martin's,his Mum is going out with him.We went over to visit his london studio, not a single mac, they all run versions of windows or linux. You can't develop for games for xbox360 or ps3 without windows or linux. The only advantage mac has over windows or linux is that you can use the official iphone sdk,but there are brilliant iphone sdk's for linux such as Apatana Studio.

Face it dudes, you're paying for the status symbol, the components aren't premium, they're the same as any other computer out there. If you actually think the OS is better than windows, save yourself  a couple of grand and go hackintosh.

Only problem concerning a Mac, I have ever had to deal with was replacing a superdrive. The guys a pro photographer and burned CDs like mad. And this is an old G4. Which only recently had this problem.
If you had a PC that old. It would be obsolete.

That's repairing other peoples pc's,and you seem quite computer literate,so you wouldn't do things that a computard would do.
I guarantee you if all your family had mac's there'd be the same amount if not more problems.

kojima productions when building MGS4

WRONG they used mac's to draw up the 3d models and textures, which is all a mac is good for,you CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT compile a game for ps3 without windows or linux.

The story of Microsoft buying a bunch of macs off apple for developing for the 360 is an internet fairy tale made by apple fanboys.
macs are used occasionally in video game development, but only for textures, the real work is done on linux and windows.

Yet again I profess unto you all,Linux is the way forward.

Windows = Office + Gaming
Mac = Anything creative (GFX, VFX, Music Production)
Linux = Run on servers and for geeks to have fun with

Windows

Pros:

Great for Gaming
Great For Coding
Compatibility
Cheaper than a mac

Cons:

Prone to crashes and failures

Mac

Pros:

Can do pretty much anything creative better than a PC
User Freindly environment
Much less problems than windows
Premium Components

Cons:

Expensive
Bad compatibility

Linux

Pros

Great for servers
Free
Great for geeks

Cons

Lack of compatibility
Not very user freindly
Not considered a real OS just yet.

Now can we please stop arguaing.

this thread fails hard.

opinion is opinion. get over it.

the only thing is that more often than not Mac users are the ones trying to get Windows users to change their opinion. Instigating an argument, then the other person has no choice but to argue their case. Of course there are excpetions, as with anything, but I do get the feeling some Mac users feel high and mighty over others because of the 'prestige' of owning a Mac. If someone changes their mind about Mac vs. PC, it's because of them, not you. I've never seen a more petty and pointless thread than this. Even if it was a joke, they know full well what the backlash of such a statement is. Now everyone, get over yourselves and realise truly that in someone's mind, the deciding factor is them and not your lame ass attempt to force them to change their mind.

Good day.

yeh that statement was a bit general. and i know macs do freeze up sometime mine has many times the difference is my mac hasnt frozen or locked up fatealy but my windows pcs have. the couple of times my mac has frozen it has been my own fault i was running 6 active desktops about 400 tabs in safari another 50 in firefox, msn, mail app, itunes(massive library), loads of widgits i was batch zipping a load of files unraring a load at the same time i was scanning photos in in iphoto with word and excell documents open  my download manager open (downloading further rara files) and i was doing all this whilst having premiere and photoshop open. it lasted a few hours before it said :censored: you im tired to me so i wasnt to bothered by it as i had saved most of my work and files i think

Windows - make money with autocad, animation, CNC machine, programming, cheap, lightweight, incredibly compatible. Mostly straight user base.

Mac - o lolol i edit vidz and pix and stuffz olol and fotoshopz lulz durdahur i want my computer to be fun and all purdy lookin and i wanna spend $2000 on a laptop that has the same specs as a 900 windows runner

H-Sauce: Keep it clean. I only put up facts, no need to mock. Opinions are opinions, but you don't have to be an ass about it.

i don't appreciate that attitude
there's something called tolerance; you don't have to accept peoples choices but the least you can do is tolerate it, so don't be a :censored:

im fine that people prefer and use pcs, i just so happen to use a mac

Wow, I put this thread up as a joke.

Its getting pretty funny how everyone gets so defensive over 1s and 0s.

You argue that they are expensive. If more people bought them regularly then they would be cheaper. Buy in bulk, get things cheaper. Anyone should know that.
Why don't they sell more? Cos they last a hell of alot longer. My Neighbour has a G4 thats like 7 years old. Runs Leopard like he got it brand new yesterday.

A windows PC slows down after 2 years. And there is no way in hell a 7 year old PC would run Vista.

Nuff sed people.

most consumers dont buy things in bulk. your theory is wrong, thats not how supply and demand works. most people buy one at a time. if significantly more people were buying macs apple would see that as increased demand and therefore might raise their prices as such, depending on how many more people were buying them. i can promise you though that the prices would not go down. apple is out to make money, just like every other company

So if I ordered one right now, they would hand make every part?
Or would they have a bunch of them already?
Firing up the factory because of 1 order for a Mac Mini. That would cost them more.

listen
this is how the demand curve is

u dont make much sales prices go down
but if theres a high demand prices go up
