Hi, I want to start making 'Backups' and I only have a laptop :(. Is it possible to get a external DL writer Drive that I can plug into my laptop??
Thanksss
-
yes, but they are costly. my lapptop has a DL drive. also costly.LOL
I have this drive at work, have not used it for DL writing, but capable, I think it was like $140 or so

how much am i looking at, for external one?
or
a internal one (swap my one out now)

I hope you also realize to make your own backups it has to be a Samsung Kreon drive, with flashed firmware.
-
And 360 games aren't even DL disks...

'Backups' have to be on DL disks....

360 games are HD DVD disks. HD DVD holds 15gb. A DL HD DVD is 30gb. I don't think a lot of games utilize 15gb+...

Ok I'll take you word for it ;)

Wait a seccond, to backup ur games you need a dual layer dvd drive that you can open up so thats a nono for a laptop drive or a samsung koren drive however to write them to disc i believe any dual layer will do ?
-
What the hell are you talking about?
You can't do any 360 drive modding with a laptop, period.

PSP I would advise you to just leave the thread.
99% of your information has been false.
You can FLASH a 360 with a laptop with any connectivity kit and usb sata.
You can BURN 360 games with any duallayer DVD burner. (YES They use DUAL LAYER discs, NOT HDDVDs, A simple google would answer that for you)
You can BACKUP your own 360 games with any KREON flashed dvd drive.

Yah, don't be an :censored:.
I've tried connecting dvd drives to laptops using crap like that and it doesn't work. Oh well.
I have googled, and google told me HD DVD.
-
scott is almost 100% correct, but he has one thing wrong, you cant flash your drive using a USB-sata connector, because you cant get the drive keys from the USB, only serial and serial ata(sata)
kicks, they are on DL dvds, and each game is about 7.3GB, if they were on HD dvds they would only be playable on the now, obsolete HD dvd player
A DL(dual layer) DVD can hold a maximum of 8.5GB just for reference
NOTE FOR EVERYBODY!
To create your own xbox 360 game backup, you must have the samesung "Kreon" with a flashed firmware.
To BURN the backups to a DL DVD, you must have a dvd burner that supports DL DVDs, you do not need any custom firmware on your burner.
To PLAY the backups on your console, you MUST have a flashed drive, i.e. iExtreme CFW
-
All I know is I googled at one point and it said hd dvd. Meh
-
LOL so ben the drive I showed you is a dl dvd burner, I have that one and not had any trouble out of it. it is capable of burning the backups, but to play them you must flash the dvd drive that is in your xbox.
the drive I linked was like $140. and if you pm treemty, he coud posibly help with the xbox drive, notice I said PM him!

Yeah that one is fine, there are a few brands of dvd makers that actually kinda suck for burning 360 backups, like a 5% success rate, toshiba are quite good though, like 99% success rate if you do it right

kicks your wrong lol games are dual layer why would you say they arent? they have been ummm since.... they were made i believe
did you just decide to make things up and hope you were right and post them here??
-
Sorry for teh bump, but doesn't wxripper rip the game without the need to have a Sammy drive? Wxripper usesthe hot swap method, and I've seen bids on YouTube of people ripping games using any regular drive.
EDIT: I mean DL writing drive, durr

Uhhh.. I believe so. I don't remember, but I do know it uses the hot swap method...which should mean yes to any drive.
