Its called software or "soft" modding or hex modding or gamerscore modding to most of us.

Dont let me catch anyone flaming in here as col busta is just trying to be helpful and expand some of our scope within the site.  I know not many of our members like this sort of mod, but its still modding, so if you dont like it dont post.

Well, his main post is extremely misleading. After he posted his stuff in the correct forum it became clear, but not in this forum board.
You can't "mod games". He's talking about softmodding game SAVES, not games. That's why my post was how it was.

Lol no it's fine.
Theoretically, though, would it be possible to mod an actual game? Like the ISO. Replace textures and such? Kinda like a romhack.

actually kicks, you can mod games. its a hex edit, this was done on both call of duty games, overwrite, and change bits of code to insert comands. it was done in both cod games by changing the message of the day.  to must be done in partition 3 and the profile must be resigned. there is alot involved, but posible

theoretically yes it would be possible. just like you can change out skins and textures etc on pc games as long as you can resign the files and pass any checks that are implimented by the developers then im sure you could edit a game disk and burn it to a cd

That would be amazing to do. Imagine playing CoD4 as Mario or Link.

You can mod the games as much as you want, getting them to play nice with the xbox is a challenge as the discs must be signed (and we dont know the disc signatures yet (i think))

You can mod map packs anyway you want because they are conveniently stored on the harddrive.
