Post by: RiP on August 21, 2009, 03:24:00 AM
Waahh ok new project, concentration!!
What should it look like:
Apple's iPhone 3G with a light-mod! :taunt:
already have got a blue case, so i'll just mess up my old one... its wite!
i want to cut out the metallic apple on the back side and make a milky glass inside and a SED so it glows! :yess:
only thing i need: can anybody tell me where to solder the wires so the apple turns on when the backlight is turned on??
a photo would be great!! :hifive:

thanks in advance

I think someone ha already done this , they used the backlighting for the glow effect. i dunno but AFAIK the backlight just leaks out and can be used to illuminate the cut apple. What are you planning to use to cover the cut with ? I'd say use frosted plastic. Should look really cool.

yeah acctually i have seen one guy and a girl how modded their 2G with his mod... i just found out where i can solder the SED and i have got a SED from an old iPhone-backlight, so i dont need any transistors or somthing like that...^^

a material to fill the hole... hm, first i thought about glue, hot glue for example but then i thought <- :nono: naa, will look much too cheap... so now i hope it works like this: the hole will be covered with a crystal plate on the outside so u cannot feel the place where the hole was if u dont look at the back-cover... this plate is not that phat like the baccase, so the SED fits betreen the plate and the accu... and that u don't always have to look at the darn SED i will use a diffuser so u cannot see where the light is comming from...^^

there is so less space behind the accupack, i have to fit the SED inside the hole, not behind... but the cover is much thicker on the backside, so hopefully it will work...

I Know now what i am going to use... There is à Special glue for windshields... So i put in the SED, put diffuser over is and then i am going to fill in the windshield-glue^^ will just look awsome i think... I'll Start the project tomorrow^^
