Title: sound reactive leds questions

hi everyone

i need some help modding my psp slim, i want to put some reactive leds but i want to know if i can use any othe npn transistor or i have to use the 2n2222

the problem with this is that where i live this transistor is very expensive and its to big, it has a metalic cover

can i use another transistor for general prupose???

i am from mexico, here radioshack dont sell componenets only finished devices, and i am talking about transistors like the 2n2222 not the chip-based sound mod
