Title: What shall I get..?
Post by: Ben. on August 26, 2009, 03:00:04 PM: Ok so I'm gunna sell my laptop hopefully for around £300. And I kinda want a desktop, but I shall be going to uni in a couple of years, as I'm starting sixth form soon. So a desktop would be inpratical. So I need a laptop, but someone recommeded one of those small laptops (forgot the name). So what should I do. What do you guys recommend???

Budget £350~

EDIT: just saw the battery life on the dell :fear: 3hours....

take a look at this one

lookks good apart form its XP - I prefer Vista and it only has 1gb of ram...

Oh n btw .... i think you still have quite a few years to go before uni and a netbook will definitely not cut it till then. They are good enough for only basic tasks at best.... forget serious photoshop or any kind of video encoding / gaming on it. if you want to code on it , then the screen size will be an issue.....

Think about all this and then decide ....

Ur current lappy is much much better than a netbook by far....

If you want to:

Take it with you to pretty much anywhere
Take notes in class

Then get a netbook.

If you plan on:

Using it as a main PC
Typing long essays
Any activity that requires long battery life
Something that has a lot of performance.

Get a proper laptop.

Netbooks are designed to be used for the internet, Not as a main computer. I found that one out the hard way.

incorrect, my eeepc i had upgraded to 2gb. and all of it worked.

and dhruv, i had cs3 and cs4 extended on my netbook, took some time to boot up, but they both worked fine on it...just photoshopping with a touchpad is a pain in the ass.
