Title: good first cars.
Post by: FreeK on August 31, 2009, 04:40:52 PM
so, as most of you know im turning 16 in just over 20 days now. so ive been looking at cars..

from what i hear my price range at the moment is about $1500-$3000 but my mom said that if i save up some money, she'll double what i have.

anybody have any ideas on cars i should look for?

doesnt have to be new or anything, but i dont want it to be too old either. and should preferably be a 2 door coupe.

Don't tint the windows if you're gunna put neon on the inside AND outside, because the greens will be mismatched,to make up for it rig it up sound reactive.

all that jappanese crap will never break down, till it eventually does.
and when it does it's allways something big.

were replacing a whole engine atm for like 5000 euro...the dude is :censored:ing crazy.

if i was you i wouldnt build in all that neon and speaker crap because its jsut stupid.
tune the engine and race....

my ford focus looks stock from the outside but when i start it, its a beast.
i do a lot of races at traffic lights with those asses with all the neon and big and loud speakers.
as soon as i start my engine yo see the smile on their faces fade away....

they only get like a bigger air intake and an other exhaust for the sound.
i did a complete rebuild of my engine and it took me 2 months.
thats beauty...lol

atm i got no car because im getting my licence (yes i drove around without a lincence, yes its wrong, no i dont care)
like this: http://adaptivestrategies.com/spine-spinner.jpg (http://adaptivestrategies.com/spine-spinner.jpg)

thats just so G-A-Y it looks cheap.
get some real rally rims, they are better in the bends and will help you not to oversteer to fast.
those cheap and fake rims will get you in a lot of trouble if they get to hot.

when i was in the usa i jsut kept laughing at young people with a crap car and 4 chrome rims.
its like: i have no money but i wanna be cool.

I don't know where you guys live, but a civic with 171k miles on it for almost 1900 bones?!? whoa! I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but just surprised!  My first car was a mint condition 1992 Honda Accord ex with 77k miles on it and I got it for 1200 bones. If you do some shopping around, look in newspapers(classifieds) and auto-trader, craigslist, etc. You will find a decent car for cheap. It's all a matter of taste. Or you could always go to a small car lot, put 1k down, and make monhly payments of about 200 a month for 60 months, but thats up to you.
I took that 92 accord and dropped like 20 g's into it over about a year, H22 conversion, auto to stick conver. turbo, intake, nos, rims, wing, and paint job, carbon fiber hood, and green neon all the way around, two 12's in the trunk, it was decked out. Buuuuut I wrecked it. Sorry no pics. Used to be on cardomain but got deleted.

Uh oh, a matrix? I mean, they are great on gas, but everyone I know that has one always has some kind of issue with it. Is it a hand-me-down?

yea its a hand me down. so far we haven't had any problems with it besides the fact we wrecked into a deer. but yea its good on gas which i am grateful for b/c i live like 25 mins away from town,

Well, you know what, a matrix is probably a perfect first car. It may not be the best looking thing around, but you can make any car your-own. It's small, not too fast, good on gas and affordable, plus insurance will be lower because it's a toyotand it's not a sports car. You will enjoy it. It goes from A to B right? Lol.

Get yourself a '78 Malibu and trick it out.  They look like granny cars, but if you build them right they FLY.

My First car was a poo brown metallic '78 Coupe.  305 V8 (Got pulled and a 355 was dropped in).  Change out the Metric Tranny for a 350 Turbo Hydromatic with shift kit, pop some 3.83 gears in the diff, and go.

Sorry for the Zombie topic resurrection, I forgot to check the date... My bad.  :cry2:

My first car is a 2003 chevrolet avalanche. Not neccisarily cheap. Actually I think it is the opposite. Gas milage kills me but it is cool none the less.

oh and my 1st car was a 1996 dodge ram 1500. i lifted it 3 inches, tonneau cover, hid headlights and everything. 18" beadlock rims with 34" mud tires, i sold it and now i have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lareado. it rides sooooo smooth. not to mention my $800 sound system in it. haha but buy whatever is in your price range and sont buy something to look cool, buy something because you like it. not to impress others. hope this helped.
