-40mm Speaker http://mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=sGAEpiMZZMuNFJjvCI6tQh8mjnT0e2E1Hf0EyM8a18I%3d (http://mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=sGAEpiMZZMuNFJjvCI6tQh8mjnT0e2E1Hf0EyM8a18I%3d)

Tools Needed

-30 AWG wire
-Screwdriver
-Hot Glue Gun
-Dremel (Cut off wheel, drum sander, drill bit 1/8")

Difficulty Rating: 3/5

Time Required: 1 Hour

Step By Step Tutorial

1. First You need to dissemble your PSP slim until everything is out of the housing.

2. Then take your dremal and cut off all the plastic under the memory card slot till it looks like this.

(https://www.acidmods.com/moddedmatt/40mmspeaker2.jpg) (http://img97.imageshack.us/i/97919519.jpg/)

3. After cutting out all the plastic till the speaker sits flat. Measure out where you want to drill the holes for the sound to go through like shown in the picture below.
(https://www.acidmods.com/moddedmatt/40mmspeaker3.jpg) (http://img33.imageshack.us/i/93332547.jpg/)

4. Place your speaker in after drilling the holes then put the analog stick, headphone jack, and motherboard in to see if it fits flush. It should look like this if it fits perfectly.
(https://www.acidmods.com/moddedmatt/40mmspeaker4.jpg) (http://img97.imageshack.us/i/35518233.jpg/)
(https://www.acidmods.com/moddedmatt/40mmspeaker5.jpg) (http://img59.imageshack.us/i/91039515.jpg/)
(https://www.acidmods.com/moddedmatt/40mmspeaker6.jpg) (http://img28.imageshack.us/i/65869533.jpg/)

5. Now you should glue the speaker in place with hot glue. Some hot glue should be added where the plastic used to be holding up the analog stick to prevent it from being pushed down.

6. Solder two wires to the speaker. The right contact is positive and the left is negative. Connect the other ends of the wire to the two contact points on the motherboard. The bottom contact on the left side is positive and the top is negative.

7. Now put the PSP back together and you should have much louder sound while still keeping the UMD drive. I chose to add another 50mm speaker in the UMD area so the volume is even louder.

Here is a video of the PSP I installed this on.

FAQS / Troubleshooting
Q: Why is the analog stick moving by itself?
A: Make sure you add hot glue in place of the plastic you dremeled off.

I think the bass sounds like crap lol.
It sounded not as good because I put the volume boost too high in Lite MP3 and the camera affects the sound in the video too. If you set it at 3 in Lite MP3, that would be perfect.

It hasn't done anything to my memory stick yet...

magnets affect hard drives, not memory stick flash memory.

He must have removed the UMD Drive.
No On The Top Of The Vid It Says He Still Kept It, My Guess Is That He Found A Really Skinny 1, And Managed To make It Fit, Who Knows

No - on the top of the thread it says you can keep the UMD Drive if you put a 40mm speaker in. He says that he optionally chose to add a second 50mm speaker hence logic suggests that the UMD Drive MUST have been removed, this is supported by the fact that you can clearly see the outer skin of the second speaker extruding inwards on the UMD Door by at least 3mm which on a slim PSP would not allow for the UMD Drive to be kept.

Yes, for the 50 mm he must have removed the umd drive.
I also removed it and now i want to make a speaker in there
,the 50 mm,  Do i have to make it just the same as the 40mm speaker but then wires to the umd?

You can put it in however you want if it fits and don't wire it to the UMD, where is the logic in that? You want the sound from the speaker so you have to wire it to the speaker, although if you have already wired 1 large speaker in your PSP I would suggest that you wire it to the speaker that you have not attached anything to yet so that the load is shared equally.

LOLZ  i meant wire it to The speaker in the UMD AREA
I know that my English sucks.

EDIT: does it boost up the sound or only the quality?

Sound not quality, quality may be reduced without a sound chip which would increase the quality.

I have two more questions

(1) I have no exp at using a dremel is it hard to use one and do this with it?

(2) Where would I put the hot glue? (where exactly)

And sorry if I am bumping but I need some help and I do not want to make another topic about this.
