I just picked up a Pioneer VSX-305 AV receiver at a yard sale for $15...
Works, as far as I can tell.
It uses 8ohm speakers. I have some 4ohm speakers. I'm guess they won't work with it?
I tried hooking them up and got no sound. I also tried directly outputting sound to my tv (360>receiver>tv) and it didn't work.
Maybe it's just broken.
In any case, anyone have any experience with any of these? Any help appreciated.

sounds like it may be broke. the speakers will play regardless of impedance
@8 ohms the sound willl be more crisp
@4 ohms the sound will be flat
there is an issue with the output if your not getting any sound

I'm not getting sound out of anything.
None of the outputs.
Hmmm. I guess I'll open it up and check everything out. It was $15, so I'm not really worried about it. I can always use the parts from it.
Thanks

Oh. It seems when I was trying to just pass the audio through to my tv, i had it hooked up to the CD inputs... I feel retarded. I'll test it out now. Maybe it works. XD

chec the sound output pins with a multimeter and make sure none of the connectors have any cracks in the pins or solder joints, the connectors on those things are a beyotch for breaking.
