from what I understand the brandnew ones are not flashable. If you buy a referb from gamestop you will mostlikely get an older one that is flashable, but then you ask about reliability, the gamestop warranty is great, however once you open it to flash the drive its void...I buy them off ebay for like $15 (unopened rrod) dont buy if no video, e74, or opened. fix the rrod properly and install a flashed drive.

@ modded matt What seller on ebay do you get the unopened rrod 360's from? The cheapest I can find is $60.

You can just transfer registration on xbox.com. Doesn't matter if it has been registered befor.

you have to watch the auctions, I got one last week for $8 plus shipping, of course these are consoles only (no perifials) I have bought 4 now and only one I couldnt fix, so I scraped it and will be using the drive for other uses that may or may not be a violation of ms terms of use. LOL

as for transfering, what are you speaking of? the MS registration, for waranties? I dont reregister them after I get it, there will be no waranty left...if you are asking about gamer profile, that is stored on the hdd not the console.

i mean if u get a sealed rrod or e74 box, why dont you just ship it in to save yourself the trouble of having to fix it yourself?

I just got a 360 in today for $60 with 3rrod and good warrenty seal. Microsoft will fix the e74 and the 3rrod for free. The warrenty is good up to 3 years after your 360 mfr date.

I don't think that matters. My elite was used when I bought it, I called m$ and they fixed it, I just had to pay the 10.42 for shipping to them. After that, I got it back 6 days later.
