Title: Brighter Irda (infra red leds for data transfer)

I was wonderin if anyone had the pinout of the infra red transmitter and knows a way to boost the power of the signal or what kind of leds i should use like 3mm or 0603 if i were to do this, also what wavelength should they be (i took out my umd drive so i have plenty of room). I ask this because id like to be able to turn on tvs from more than just a few feet away from them. And i do have a night vision scope so i can see how bright they are myself.

ir must have line of sight. thats why they are low voltage and dinsity like that. havent seen that pinout though you can see the IR lights in a camera lense

would a lm386 chip be able to boost the voltage without very much distortion?
