Title: Some advice on car audio for a Reg. Cab Pickup
Post by: ModderDmo on December 13, 2009, 06:22:50 PM
I graduated from high school not too long ago and Christmas is coming up and I compiled a wish list for the two. I'm asking for a Kicker 750W RMS monoblock with a 0AWG wiring kit, and a pair of 10" Kicker CompVR's. This is all going into a regular cab pickup with a 1.8 cubic foot box that barely fits. Do you guys think this a good setup, or do you guys believe that I should come up with a better setup? Remember, I have only have $500 USD budget for subwoofers and an amp, so it can't be a complete JL Audio setup. I'm getting everything off of SonicElectronix.com if you were wondering.

kicker comp series are not bad wofers, I would invest in a better amp. tyipically the manufacturer specializes in one item IE: speakers. ...not amps...I have a single 10" infinity being pushed by a 1K power acustic amp and the sound is great. Remember, underpower is just as bad, if not worse then over powering.

Yeah, I'm looking to buy a ZX series, which is the only choice, well, there is the Warhorse, but that's overkill.

Alright so, I ordered my Kicker CompVR's Dual 2 Ohms, Kenwood KAC-9104D 900W RMS @ 2 Ohms amp, and a Rockford Fosgate RFK1 0/1 gauge amp wiring kit.

I recomend either the jl audio 13tw5 or 2 memphis s class 12" subs.

Boston Acoustics FTMFW!  I have a single SPG555 in a sealed box, it hits so hard it hurts!

Yea I really wanted that too but I got a good deal on a kicker solo x 10" sub so I bought it and now I am looking for an amp. It should pound.

It most likely won't, but I'm putting on a ring terminal and trim it.

im running 0 gauge in my car and all you have to do is buy a cap for the wire that screws on that will make it fit inside the amp. It was like $5 at Car-Toys

Alright, I got everything hooked up but I wired everything to 8-ohms until I can get a high-output alternator and deep-cycle battery. At full volume it's 13-14V stable. Thanks to all of you for your help.

i know that this is a little late but next time you shop, you should consider onlinecarstereo.com
Great prices, i bought all of my car audio off there and my stuff bumps... just consider this website if you want to upgrade at any time... use the code "ocsavings" without quotes for 10% off. they have a larger selection than sonic eletronix. hope this helped...
