So, I need roughly $2100-2200 (With about $200 cash back) because I plan on getting a new MBP soon. (2.66ghz, 4gb ddr3, 15", 9400+9600GT gpus, 320gb hdd)
It'll be upgraded to 8gb ddr3 and a 500gb hdd to make room for windows, osx, and my media. (Sell the 4gb ram for $250, get new ram for $400...save $400)
How can I make the money for it?
I figure if I sell stuff...
just got $100 for a 360
$350 - ssd
$40 - hdd
$40 - xbox
$30 - broken 360
$800 - my laptop (2.4ghz, 4gb ddr3, 320gb hdd, 16", webcam, backlit kb, 5.1 surround, etc)
$130 - lot of laptop ram and stuff
$100 - misc 360 spare parts
Some spare money from selling 360 controller chips when I'm done with mine, and same with my console chip.
That's only...~$1600 + money from the chips.
Any other ideas? I want to get a small netbook to tide me over between selling my laptop and getting the MBP so I still have internet...but I may keep the netbook too.
ANY IDEAS?!

Dell Studio XPS 1640.
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz P8600
16.4" 1920x1200 HD screen
4GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
5.1channel surround sound (HD audio)
Black
Backlit keyboard
Webcam (Probably 1.3mp or 2mp)
320gb 7.2k WD Caviar Black hdd
Capacitive media keys
Multitouch touchpad integrated into the palm rest
Intel 5100 AGN wifi card (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands)
ATi Mobility Radeon 3670 graphics card
Optiarc DVD/DL/CD/R/RW writer (Every CD/DVD format + DL)
Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth card
Bluetooth WPAN (99% sure that's just a feature of the Bluetooth card)
VGA, Gigibit ethernet, Display Port, HDMI, 2 USB, 2 Headphone, 1 Mic, 1 Firewire, SD/MMC, and Express Card slot.
1 Free Mini PCi-e slot
Warranty valid until May 2010, and I would cosmetically get everything replaced by Dell before selling it.
I'd like more than $800 but I don't know if I'll even get that.
I don't want to sell it until I get enough money beforehand that this would get me the rest to buy the MBP (Can't go without a laptop)

What kind of HDD? what about that broken 360 you have? what's the deal with that?
-
Not trying to sound like an smartass, believe me on that, but what about getting a part time job to assist? Any little bit of money, if saved, does help, although probably won't be able to get one RIGHT away.
The parents could give you a hand too.. Just ask if they can spot you however much money and call that your xmas gift.
-
Gifts are bought already =/ Mom said get a job as well.
I'd prefer not to get a job though..(with school and a job, I'd have no time to see my girlfriend...)
The hard drive is a 2.5" 200GB Hitachi 7200rpm drive.
The 360 has no Dvd drive (I need it), no RoL (again, needed), and has the 0102 error (it's been xclamped...next step is reflowing). DVD key and drive type will be provided on purchase..
-
ah, ok... reflow is a bit more than I wanna do, lol

a couple of suggestions. One instead of buying new look for used they are cheaper and sometimes you can get a huge bargain. Check your local craigslist everyday. I see MBP for a 1000 and under (and yes they are the newest brand). Also you might want to consider installing hackintosh on your dell instead of buying a new laptop.
-
I'm getting a new MBP, not used, not installing OSx86. I'm fully aware of hackinstosh'ing. Lol.

Yeah dude he'd be getting one for the hardware aspect of things. Straight from the man means little to no chance of issues
-
Actually I'd be ordering from Bestbuy instead of Apple (use a coupon code, plus I can get cashback). Haha, but yeah same concept.
And actually I'm downloading OSx86 10.5.6 to install soon too...

Any desktops? If you have a vocational school that teaches graphic arts near you, they might sell a couple macs. I got a MacBook aluminum body for $250. Give it a shot
-
I have vo-tech schools, that's it.
-
They don't teach graphic arts?
-
No... My schools don't sell people computers, got it?

not being a M$ fanboy or anything, but those are some garbage specs for 2100$. you could even max out a dell for better prices better then that.
but on a better attitude.
in those "random xbox 360 parts" does it include a 360-VGA/DVI cable?
-
Yeah, I might be interested in some of those spare 360 parts.

PC specs and mac specs are not the same, macs will run better than a PC even with 'lower' specs...
-
I want a Mac, okay? I don't care whether I can get better with a PC.
No I don't have an adapter.
I've got old motherboards, 2 non hdmi cases, ring of light boards, heatsinks, fans, and that's about it.

gotcha.
and kicks, i was never telling you to get a pc, i could care less which anyone prefers/wants i was just saying it.
-
Are the mobos broken? Also, I might be interested in buying one of those cases? How much?
-
Uh. Idk shipping is $9 though...flat rate medium box (barely fits).
The mobos I can't test, so I'll sell as is.
-
If I had money I would so buy your laptop. I've been eyeing that one on dell for quite some time but I never have enough money.
