ok so a friend brought over a 360 with the rrod for me to fix got it fixed but the minute i plug the dvd drive in and turn on the 360 i get a single red light bottom right one but if i unhook the dvd drive and boot the sytem it boots fine any clue what this could be anyone
-
The DVD drive might have bad / no firmware, data or power cables are muffed up, incorrect drive...

This.
What's the secondary error code, if there is one? Any errors on the screen?
-
would a 360 manufactuered on 12-14-2006 have a ben-q drive cause thats what it had in it and i flashed it and it was stock firmware and i put 1.61 on it know it went through good cause jungle flasher sent the outro command and it all matched the tutorial
no errors on the screen and the secondary code is 1002
-
That's too early for Ben Q's, they started rolling out in late 2008...
You sure it's stock?
-
1002 DVD Drive Error, likely a firmware error, drive can eject, read, and write under windows but errors on console, replacing original firmware should fix issue.
Flash the stock firmware back to it.
If that doesn't work, flash a stock BenQ firmware spoofed as other drive types until it works...
Like sniper said, 2006 is long before BenQ was around.
-
ok flashed back to official sucky firmware and it boots fine the date on the benq is 11-03-2006 even says manufactured november 2006 on the drive so are you sure it can't be the stock drive for it?????
ok is there a way for me to find the original dvd key to this 360 other than reading the nad on the 360 cause i have no clue or the know how to do that LOL
-
Huh. Maybe they were around since then.
And it's not reading the NAND.
JTAG hacking is the only way to retrieve it, and ONLY if it's still on a lower kernel.
-
it still has the glide dashboard old school looks like its never been updated through live that would mean i would need the hard drive attachment kit huh which i don't have LOL
-
You don't need the hard drive kit...what are you talking about??
And that one is old enough to be JTAG'd.
Wait. Why do you need the key? The drive isn't flashed with it?
-
ok but the drive is only loading cd's and dvd and not 360 games real games not backups i flashed it back to the original firmware and from what i understand is that if its not the stock drive that came with the 360 it will load cds and dvds like it does but not games now how do i do this hack stuff never done it before LOL
-
No.
If you don't have the key flashed then it won't load 360 games.
Was it loading 360 games before you flashed it back to stock?
I think you forgot to back up your key and/or forgot to copy the key over to the stock firmware before flashing it...basically screwing yourself.
-
no i have flashed alot of drives i saved the keys bin and the official firmware i couln't test it before cause it had the rrod fixed that then moved onto flashing the drive while it was hooked up close to the pc 360 will boot fine when i have the stock firmware in it but won't play games but does play cds and dvds which means from what i have read this isn't the stock drive for this 360
-
Your key is bad. The drive can be the original. If the manufacture date is close to the manufacture date of the 360 then it might be. If your key was good it would read games. Putting your original key in a drive that isn't the original is called "Spoofing".
Your going to have to get the key off the mobo if you want to use this 360 again
-
ok how can it not be the right key its the key bin from jungleflasher i have never known of jungle flasher giving the wrong key for a drive outta the 100 or so i have flashed never got a bad key
-
It's the stock drive. Stop blabbering. You need to learn how to type in sentences so you can be understood.
You didn't flash the key over.
-
yes i did i spoofed the key from the original stock firmware that jungleflasher pulled from the drive and spoofed it to the new iextreme firmware for it
-
Did it play games when it was on ix?
If so, then your original fw may be bad. Did this 360 EVER play games while you had it? Like before all of the spoofing? If you're still using the same Key, the key is fine and it's something else.
-
i don't know if it played games before the rrod fix as i said it booted fine after the fix so i just moved onto flashing the drive and as soon as i put any type of ixtrememe on it and hook the drive back up to the 360 it flashes one red light bottom right one. The minute i flash it back to the official firmware the 360 boots fine but won't play any original 360 games just goes to a 360 screen with movie audio controls but will play cd's and dvds fine
-
M$ started putting the BenQ/LiteOn-Phillips drives in the 360 in late 2006, November or December I believe...
I thought I read the key was also recorded on the mobo or something, I swear I heard it's recoverable elsewhere...
-
yeah but it involves making a cord and alot of soldering and that to motherboard to read the eproom in the 360 and i don't even want to attempt that LOL i can solder and that just way to much work for me LOL
-
No. You're 10000% wrong Krazy.
Jr, you have to JTAG read the flash NAND on the 360, do some magic, and in the end you'll be able to read the CPU keys and LB (I think?) keys so you can generate a new DVD key.
Sounds like you never had a working key.

gotcha, new it was somehow possible though, lol
-
Oh it's definitely possible (for under 85xx kernels I think) but it's a ton of work. I never got mine working... it randomly E79'd on me (and I wasn't using a hdd which is the cause of that error lol)
-
@ kicks: what type of mobo?
-
Xenon, why?
-
I want to do it but I have Jasper, (yes I k ow I can do it), but I jus wanna get a xenon that won't go on live foar evar.
-
If you think you can fix the E79, you can have my mobo for a price lol
-
I read some where today that E79 while JTAGing is caused by an incomplete mod, maybe one of the points you soddered broke?
-
Everything was working perfectly fine and I was running Xell.
Then, I left it in my closet (360 fully together) and when I used it 2 weeks later it was dead lol
