Title: 2 8w7 subs with one 13w7
Post by: loganbyers07 on January 05, 2010, 12:37:18 PM
Could I put two 8w7 subs in for a midbass and then use the 13w7 for the low lows?

Are you saying use a 4 channel amp for the 2 8w7 subs and then use a mono channel amp for the 13w7?

Would a alpine 600/4 amp be good for the 8w7 subs?

nvm u can use whatever amp u want, just make ur headunit has RCA outputs, the ones with 3 pre-outs would be better. Newer headunits have 3 pre-outs for Sub, Rear, and Front. connect the amp for the 8s in the Rear speaker pre-out.

I would have the two 8w7's on one amp (preferably 2-channel) and the 13w7 on a monoblock (mono-channel). Be sure to get a really good amps, JL Audio makes probably the most respectable subwoofers on the market, so they deserve to be powered by a respected brand, plus they would sound better. Like alman101 said, hook up the 2-channel amp up to the rear speaker RCA output, and the monoblock to the subwoofer RCA output. As wiring goes, get a dual amp 1/0 AWG wiring kit, I suggest a Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, or Tsunami (the most flexible wire I've used) wiring kit. Good luck, and if you have any questions just ask, I'll usually answers to the best of my knowledge.

Okay, well I have installed a system before. I put 2 memphis pr 15 subs on a kicker zx750.1 but I sold the subs. Would the kicker amp be okay for the 8w7 subs or should I sell it and get a different amp? Would 2 8w7 subs be good enough in you guys oppinions? I really am not sure I am ready to fork over 2 grand on this system...

Alright that's cool, I just wanted to point that out for others who haven't installed a system before. The Kicker would be able to handle the 8w7's fairly easily.

that depends on how you like the music. you will get better range out of the two 8s however, the 12 will hit the deeper notes but tend to be flatter.

8's = rock / alt music

12's = rap/r&b music

if you want the boom use the 12's but I suggest you get a nice pair of 6x9 or 6" (door speakers) to off set the bass.

Ha, well I bought an 8w7 off of ebay 2 days ago and it is on its way. I am considering getting another and then going with that. Maybee grab a 12 to go with it but I think that the 8's will probably suffice
