this is bull. I know we need income but ads that redirect you? The popups are bad enough.

i havnt added any more ads than when we used google. there are now things called full page ads which may happen once a day and should not happen any more frequently than that and all you do is click skip ad and it goes back to normal.
there shouldnt be any pop ups or unders at all
we have very little ads compared to some other free forums. a lot of them usually have loads of ads like 6 or 7 a page and have pop ups/unders. the only sites that dont have them are either sites that have rich owners or members that frequently donate to help the site.

There is only one new item here, which is the addition of one full page ad per day. If you dont want to see the ad, There is a button at the top right that will skip the ad. its a button click "skip this ad"
Other then, that there is nothing new.
There are no popups, or in line ads. If you get popups other then the one full page ad per day, you may want to check your gear.

Yea about that. Um, I mean... Seriously, it's like having litter strung around the place, AM us to look so neat and tidy... It's hardly cause to stop using the forum but there should be a way to opt out of them. Besides paying for it. I can understand the site needing cash though that is understandable. The pop ups don't look pretty and really are not functional, but I understand the site needs to make a buck and being a consumer I am looking to save a buck. Perhaps changing the ads that are used maybe? Something trust worthy that people will buy from. Or for the opt out idea, perhaps allowing people to donate and toss them a bone like allowing them to have a custom title? That would be neat.

yes i know that the new ads displayed in the ad system are not the best and some not perticularly suitable but it takes time to hone a new system to show relevent ads as they need to crawl the site etc the google ads used to show just as much un focussed ads when they were first added. i will work on the ads when i have time in between lectures and come summer i should have time to finally set up and sort it out so that people who donate do not see the adverts and get other benefits among things

Eh, I just use Mozilla + Adblock. I didn't even notice the change until you guys mentioned it.

How about a premium member that you have to pay like $5 and you get no ads+a board that maybe has stuff you cant talk about on the reg forum(and possibly like a custom title or something...although we already have those...)

theres popups? i thought it was just the one where you have to click skip this ad. i'm using google chrome and avast and havent had a single popup.

And I only had one popup. It was the same time as the full page ad.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and just say the ad caused the popup (99% of those things give a popup when you click skip)

there will be a donor group as mentioned above. I will say it again, there is only one new item, which is the daily full page ad, everything else is standard. Only one member has experianced a popup.. We still have less advertising then all other modding sites.
this is not a democracy, you need to get used to the new changes. Because I dont see them going anywhere.
