Title: PSP BIGGER SCREEN?
Post by: armandopie101 on February 19, 2010, 08:23:45 PM: I have a quick question. I would like to know if there's any possible way to hard wire a bigger screen to a psp. Like replacing the psp screen with a portable dvd screen. The reason for asking is that I'm working on a little project of mine and would need some help completing it.

Post by: K.A.O. on February 20, 2010, 02:22:42 PM: probably not seeing how they are 2 different types of hardware. you can problably find a hack that lets you plug you psp into a protable dvd player that allows you to play on it....

trying to hardmod somethign like that will take forever to figure out and possibly just end up ruining your psp and dvd player

The digital source video needs to be buffered, scaled, and reformatted to match the timing and interface specs of the larger display. It will require a relatively powerful microprocessor or FPGA to move the data around in real time. Something along the lines of the Jumbotron DS (http://home.comcast.net/~olimar/DS/jumbotron/) made with a Spartan3 devboard. If the larger display has an analog interface then additional hardware will be needed for digital to analog conversion.
