Title: SPRING MOD OFF discussion
Post by: Modded Matt on March 10, 2010, 06:59:01 AM
ok so its been a few months since the last mod off which is unexceptable. I have just been swamped with my work and the new changes to AM staff aswell as forum board changes. That has just about settled down. and its time to refocus on the member base (after all thats what this site is realy about)

need some ideas. I have a sponcer or two in mind that may provide prizes as a publicity deal through the site, and will post more on that if and when we iron it out. as for now I am looking at $100 in cash prizes ($50 to the winner, $30 2nd and $20 3rd) along with a rapid fire chip of your choice for system of your choice.

so if anyone has some ideas, please post them up for discussion.

I've got 90% of the parts I need/want for some mods I have in mind... but I want REVOLUTIONARY and not aesthetics...

it looks like everyone is leaning towards a console mod off. if thats the case we will up the prize structure.

I know robin requested tipsters last week, did anyone sign up? if so please start tipping sites. i plan to lay out all guidelines, rules and prizes by the end of the weekend. is a 45 day event long enough? or is that too long? we did 30 on the controller, and a few did not have time to finish.

Between 30 and 45 days is a reasonable margin to complete a console mod.

Since the last one was a controller mod off, which was 30 days, a console mod in essence more complicated than a controller so 45 days sounds good to me.

Agreed. 45 sounds good.

all guidelines will be slated this weekend and the mod off will start soon next week and run 45 days through the end of april.

this will be a console mod off. meaning if it plays a game and is modable, it will be allowed to compete, this means, xbox, 360, ps 1 2 or 3, psp 1000-3000, psp go, pc, ds, dsi. etc ( would like to see a modded atari lol but thats just me)

sky is the limit.

I cant give the start date yet. as the first rule of AM mod offs is that a pic must be taken with the start date and name wrote on something in the picture.

I can tell you it will be soon, next week sometime. heck if you know me I am liable to open it tomorrow, so stay tuned.

I would not encourage it, but I guess it would not be against the rules. keep in mind there will be more mod off's throughout the year

Can we reveal The final project on the last day? I'm going to be finished with my mod long before the dead line, but I want to keep the result secret.

1. CONSOLES must be stock. All previous mods (if any) Must be removed prior to the mod off. A picture with the date of your first entry post in it of the un-modded console must be posted.

So basically a project that was started prior to this is ineligible, even if no mods were ever completed, correct?

no i think you can enter a old project... as long as you show pics of it before hand and then once its been stripped back to stock.... and then your work log for the mod off....

strip any mods applied. close it up and take a picture. the only pre existing mods that MAY be accepted is small cosmetic mods at admins discretion. please contact myself or robin directly if you need clarification

If only. I would love to enter my Wii in some form of competition, but its already completed. And after that mod, its near impossible to do better. Sigh.
