Post by: SN!P3R on March 17, 2010, 02:39:26 PM
Ya I installed the LT switch on the drive, but when I connect it to my 360, I turn onthe xbox and all the power led does is flash, and the drive doesn't respond at all when I try to eject. The led on the LT switch doesn't even come on. help

check to make sure you didn't connect the drive power cable upside down.

well if you connected the drive power cable upside down and tried to turn it on, it would start smoking lol.  I learned that from experience.  I just did the trace scrape and the wire solder with the... i think its a 22ohm 1/2watt 5% resistor on the switch.  Theres a tutorial on here, i flashed my 9k series lite on with this method and it worked first try.

Just a suggestion, due to the fact the drive is unresponsive and the xbox 360 is acting as if it's in vendor mode.  :hifive:

I've flashed my share of hitachis samsung's and Ben q's, i know the cable will go in easily when inserted correctly, which it was.

try removing the LT switch? then plug power to the drive without sata then power on. see if the xbox power light stays solid. if it does then off it then plug sata and try it agen.

No I figured it out myself, as usual.

Soldering joints weren't the best, so I took of the LT switch and re tinned the spots. Works like a charm now.

FTR, the cables only go in one way. If you reverse them, nothing happens (read: it's a cable and has no orientation).

Also when the 360 power led flashes, the drive isn't being recognized (or there's no drive) which means the drive is dead/not plugged in/in vendor mode.

Hope that helps in the future.

If you put them in wrong, the console turns on then very quicky off (had this happen on a zephyr.) Also FTR, if you install the switch or the LT switch, be sure to flip the switch back to the "normal" position mode to read the firmware. Also, for some reeason, while reading and flashing my drive, I had to work quickly. I would get the key and firmware, but when I was ready to flash the LT firmware, it returned error 0x80. I worked faster and did the whole process from reading FW to flashing the CFW in 1 minute. Polrobably my crap computer, but if you have the problem like me, try doing it faster
