*short version of story* i got a bunch of comp parts from my friend... and made a comp well it wont turn on... the mobo gets power and the fans turn on when i plug it in... not when i press the power button... when i hit the power button nothing happens what so ever any ideas as to y?
-
moar details. I dont get what what your saying
-
ok... when i plug it into a 110 outlet the little smd on the mobo turns on and the fans kick on... but when i press the power button to turn it on it wont do anything... iv u have a msn i can show u live
-
sounds like either the processor isnt on right, or the buttons from ur case arent on in the correct spots
-
Sounds like a stupid question, but is the power button connected?
-
What do you mean the fans kick on? Even when the PC is off, they're on? Possibly the switch is plugged in the wrong way? Also what happens to the SMD when you press the power button? When you release it?
-
switches are on corrrectly i have tried them both ways... the smd stays lit and yes when its not on the fans kick on, BUT its only w/ this certain power supply... i have 4 power supplys and only this1 does tht to the fans
-
Has to be a short somewhere, or somthing not grounded.
-
The fans shouldn't be on no matter what. Get a not-:censored: power supply.
-
i know the fans shouldnt come on thts why im trippin out lol look ill make a vid i guess but id rather show it live so it doesnt have to process
-
It's probably the PSU. We've already gotten the point across that something is WRONG with it.
Try a different PSU.
-
PSU? the power supply? and if thts it lol i have tried a new 1 i have 4 brand new 1s and none work
-
Try a new cpu and new ram. If that doesn't help, then it's your motherboard.
-
i guess its the mobo i just went and got 2 2gig ram sticks and it still didnt work... thanks for yals time

What he said.
Also, recheck your wiring.
-
the fans can turn on for a little moment when you turn on the PSU
that is normal for some psu's ;)
anyway i think the wiring is the problem
get a screwdriver (flat one) and remove the cables from the on and off switch from the motherboard
then use the screwdriver to connect the 2 pins ;) just for a little moment
this way you can check if it is the wiring or not ;) (and are you 100% sure using the correct pins!?)

No good quality power supply should surge when powering on like that
-
the fans can turn on for a little moment when you turn on the PSU
Maybe for a couple seconds, but they should not stay on. For example: my PSU has a switch on the back that I can push to turn on and off. If I toggle the switch my motherboard should be receiving power but no fans should turn on.

u could have a faulty power botton. try switching the power button with the reset button. that was my problem with my old thermaltake
