Title: DS Lite case change gone wrong? Able to be fixed?
Post by: headlesslizard on May 01, 2010, 11:51:51 AM
Basically, I got a DS Lite which had a cracked hinge and the top screen didn't work. I figured it would be a simple case change and screen replace. It went well until I put it all back together. Nothing happened, the DS power light came on flashed red and turned off. So I took it apart and the ribbons weren't in fully. Retried it, this time the bottom screen flashes white. However, I've looked in it again, and it appears the small ribbon that attaches the board to the touchscreen isn't connected and on the connection there doesn't appear to be one of the little clip things like the other ribbons. Will a new board be required? I'm not sure what's wrong with it or what to do now, I thought it'd be simple. Thanks.

I think it's probably because there's no catch on the clip for the small ribbon, is there anyway to either but the component and re-attach the clip bit, or another way for the ribbon to connect? My soldering skills aren't good enough to do the component completely.

Well, If Your Not Good At Soldering, Then, I Think Your Best Bet Is Just To Hot Glue It Down, Cus I Wont Want You To Mess It Up

There's no red flash now, so it's charged. Does the cable go on top or below the gold pins? I can't seem to find that online... I tried slotting it underneath and taping it there but no luck. Also, what's the difference between hot glue and like normal glue, is it specifically made for connections or something?

um well hot glue is hot.... and cool quite quickly and sticks pretty much anything to anything.... pretty well....

and the ribbon should just slot in on top of the gold pins..... slot it in there and glue it down.......... make sure its in there properly and touching where its meant to.... if it looks right it probably is lol

Ok, I don't want to glue it and risk screwing things up, I've also just snapped the power switch. If could get a mainboard for around £15, would this solve all my errors? This is becoming a more expensive quick fix. :D Ah well, it's all fun.

problem is a broken upper lcd screen so a new  mainboard wont work .

if you would buy a new mainboard with good powerswitch  you will break it again?

and if not then the upperscreen is still broken
