Heyyall, i was just trying to get some info on this. I reheated my xbox 360 with a heat gun for 30 seconds at 750 degrees, then 2 minutes for 1000.I then used modded matts x clamp fix and it still gives me the 3rrods, i did that thing with the fan where u make it overheat and get 2 rrods and it still wont work. anyone got any ideas on what ishould do next?
-
i would haev to say that a chip is fried. Thats just my guess
-
I dought its fried because if it was it wouldnt go to the two rrods im pretty sure anyone else got any ideas?
-
Does it give you another error code after heating?
-
after i did alll of this when it gets the 3 rrods it gives me 0020
-
A 1000 deg :faint:
any idea what the melting point of the solder is?
A 1000deg nope I dont think you do
youve either fried the chip does it look bubbled turned a different shade of green usally darker
or youve turned the 1000 little solder balls under the gpu into 1 solder blobo :hifive:
its broke mate and your not going to fix it.
lesson learned :#1:

What i think happened is i didnt get it hot enough to reflow um
-
1000 degrees is more then double the heat you need in order to reflow the board.
-
i reflow my boards at a max of 500 degrees and thats pushing it lol
-
yeah dude u fried it.
-
Black burn what do u mean u do it at 500 degrees max, do u mean u only get the chip up to 500 degrees, or ur heat gung ets up to 500 degrees? any one know agood tut for a reflow with a heat gunf or the rrod? thx
-
500 degrees.
-
Listen Thejld, I'm not sure what you don't understand but the maximum you should reflow at is 500 degrees. That's the heat temp. If you got the CHIP(s) to 500 degrees, they'd surely be melting at that point.
You reflowed at double the recommended temperature.
YOU FRIED STUFF. lol
-
lol, whats the temp i should get the chip to then? and whats a good cheap heat gun with 500 on it?
-
get chip to 400-450 depending on different guns and setups. Thats what i usually do and it works. As for what type of gun idk but i use what my dad has.
-
i put my xbox with all the components with alot off tape beside south bride ram and cpu gpu in the toaster oven at 450 degrees and it worked lol
-
Yep, I bought a cheap oven from Wally World and it works great. Only cost me 25 bucks. I made hooks in there to hang stuff from and it work great.
-
the melting point of most normal solder is right at 400 degrees, but at this temp the solder will be completly liquid, a few short blasts at around 450-500 should do the trick any more then that and your wasting your time. try a hair dryer
