Title: GBA, is it possible
Post by: fragged3d on May 30, 2010, 06:38:49 PM
I am just wondering if it's possible to strip the top screen off a lite and just use the bottom for a gba? What would it take to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Ryan

could you explain a little better? All I want to do is take the top screen off a lite and use the bottom to play gba games on. As we all know the system just flickers with the top screen removed.

Wait isnt the bottom screen the 1 thats touch sensative, if it is, then you cant use that 1 cus, it needs the software or programming thats on the motherboard,

I think our misunderstanding me. I don't want to use the screen in a gba, I just want to remove the top screen totally off the ds lite and use the bottom and the mobo to play gba games. I really like playing on it but I hate the weight of the top screen. I have a dsi and xl to play ds games on.

Oh, yeah, but wait.....I thought this was a mod site! I have a ton of Gameboy's, perks of owning a video game store.

What the hell are you talking about? The bottom screen is THE SAME as the top screen except that it has a touchscreen OVERLAY.

Fragged3d there's a post around here where someone was able to bridge something to get the DS to turn on without a top screen. You may want to look into that. I had thought of doing the same thing you're thinking of, but then I went and broke my screen lol. Also, make sure that you have it set (on the DS) to play GBA games on the bottom screen or else you're screwed when you go to play them.

Good luck and I really want to see this done! lol

I will look that up, thanks! I love the way gba games look on that screen as opposed to the gameboy and the rechargable ds battery is also appealing. The gba sp still flips up and this would feel so much better in someones hand. The DS screen also lights a lot better than any of the oder gameboys. For now I reversed the top to mount to the back but I will find a way to totally get it out of there.

the ds will turn on if the back light is connected so the obly thing you need is to bridge the backlight
