Title: Damaged "A" button
Post by: Tyler89-- on June 02, 2010, 07:39:09 PM
Anyone have any experience troubleshooting the "A" button? I have a matrix controller that the "A" button just stopped working.

Did you open the controller shell? Or Did it just stop working randomly?

I had the same problem.  I even tested it with a muti meter and it was getting power.  I have no idea how to fix it though

I have opened the shell, it was working prior to that.

I tried with the top off the case, moving the rubber pad around, and couldn't get it to work. Is there a way to test it, more importantly can it be repaired?

take it apart, use alchohol to clean both the black pads on the surface of the circuit board as well as the black pads on the bottom of the grey rubber piece.

Before you put it back together test it using just the rubber piece to confirm that it still works.... it does require powering the controller with the shell open so be careful not to short or touch anything you dont need to.

Ok i figured it out, but im not sure if this is the problem with yours.  I followed the trace and it leads to a little resistor and from the resistor it goes to a transistor.  I desoldered both of them and replaced them with ones off of a different circuit board.  My problem is now fixed.

Nice work! Are the resistor and transistor on the bottom of the board? How did you take them off, like an LED?
