Title: Tivo Modding Idea What do you think?

Hi every one I'm not new to the world of modding, but before I do something stupid I would like to know what you think, and if you could help me with this crazy idea.
I have this old tivo with HDMI in and out and USB ports, and was thinking about turning it in to a gaming capture card.
So how would I do this?
It couldn't be very hard.
I have looked all over for a way to do this and I'm just looking for a little help Please  :beg:.

So after a bit of research I'm guessing you can record from the HDMI, correct? What can be done using the USB ports? Can they be used to pull video off it?

EDIT: After more research, it seems that there is a program for TiVo for pulling video off of it - although the video is in .tivo format. Apparently this will work with Windows Movie Maker. Maybe you can capture some test footage and see if you can transfer and edit it?

I'll see if I can find some diagrams for the TiVo. From what I understand the basic parts are a capture card (similar to common ones used in gaming video capture) and a hdd.

Are you wanting to record to the TiVo first (in which case that software should work) or record it on the PC as if it was a capture card?

thanks. well for me it wouldn't matter seeing as me and some other people are going to use it, as long as i can get video from it it doesn't really matter its all going to be edited any way.

 I will, but i ran into a snag, there is no HDMI, it sucks but i can make it work, thanks.  :tup:

What on the TiVo or the xbox/tv? Lol you mat need to upgrade if that's the case.

on the tivo, i for got it came with the wrong box (that's what happens when you buy the display) maybe i can get one from craigslist cheaper then $200 that we were going to pay for a capture card with HDMI.
