I'm wondering if there is a way to hook up a momentary push button to a controller so that it will work as the B button. I wanted it for quick drop shotting. If there is a tut on this, I apologize, I couldn't find it. A link to one would be nice.
-
There is a way and there is a tut vid in a thread when I asked for something simular.
NOTE: the vid isnt mine and I didnt make it.

I think that this could work well for Knifing in MW2 as well - I've always used the tactical layout myself (not that I dropshot that much anyway) But this could be useful for an alternative knife button so I don't have to remove my finger or thumb from the trigger or stick respectively.
-
Hey thanks guys. I found a way to do it via another method, but it replaces the B button because the cords would interfere with the pad, so thanks for finding this.
-
The wire doesnt interfere.
-
If hte wires are thin enough, you should be able to use them, just make sure they are quite flat on the board.
-
30 awg kynar wire will be fine for that.
-
I use IDE computer cable. It's quite thin and easily playable.
-
What was the other method alex....

button relocationis one of the first simplest mods for these controllers. the video above shows how it could be done by an amature modder. a profesional would never scrape the button pads unless they were never going to be used again. follow the trace from the black pads, solder to either the trace, or the via. one wire goes to the trace and the other goes to ground for CG controllers.
you can use any of the red circled points in this pic for the + b button, the other side of your push button will go to ground.
-
Will this work for matrix controllers aswell???
-
Same principle... just follow the trace
-
Thanks Matt. I got the rapid fire from your tut to work as well. You are a very helpful person.
-
ok ill try that, also would you be able to put a wire from the left trigger and a wire from the right trigger and put it to one tact switch to allow you to quickscope like viking360s mod?
-
in therory, the problem is timing, if you wire both triggers to one switch when you press that switch it will activate both triggers at once. I am not sure how the viking software works, but I would assume that it has a milisecond pause between activating the left trigger then the right trigger. on CG the triggers need to have voltage applied to the center pin to fire (oposite of the face buttons)
if you want to test it, see how the tact switch has four posts, two on each side? one side is for each trigger dont cross them. one pin goes to center, and the other goes to top of the trigger points.
did that make since or do I need to draw it?
-
Yes it makes sence but a drawing would be even more helpful if thats ok.thanks

?

There are three pins for each trigger, three on the left, three on the right of the board. Matt is talking about these.
-
yh ino that but i was wondering wat he ment by center dont he meen the middle pin of these or does he meen in the center of the board for ground?
-
center of the three trigger pins. the trigger is a potonimiter, the center pin is the wiper or input if you will.
-
ok thanks ill try that and also if the timing was wrong what would i use as a delay?
-
it would need to be coded to a pic. posibly a 555 timer or combination of timers.
-
ok cool, what will i need to program onto the pic or 555 timer
-
search ebay for the pic programmer.
-
No i dont need a programmer ive got that i just need to no what to program on to a pic for the delay. but i think i can use a 555 timer
-
If you dont want to program you should use timer 555. its doesnt need to be programmed
-
oh ok thanks for the info!
-
I am sure you can work it out if you will put the time into learning the componant. This should be achevable through 555timers, or combination of. look into 555's and flipflops
It can also be done with a programed chip without the timers and other componants if you can write the code.
-
Ok thanks matt will this timer work? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-x-555-timer-IC-NE555-/290448160360?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item43a00f3668 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-x-555-timer-IC-NE555-/290448160360?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item43a00f3668)
