I. Want. This. Digging through all my games sucks, this would be so wicked. Not to mention all the random updates if I haven't played in a week or so are irritating.

Ok so I don't want to be the nay-sayer, but really? No one doubts the legitimacy (let alone legality, remember Datel 'service' batteries?) of this thing? For all the security in place on the PS3 and after years of hacking attempts, it's as simple as some custom program on a USB dongle? and how exactly was that program compiled and signed? Some random hacker group just happened to crack Sony encryption? Can I call BS? This is to be as legit and long lived as the datel psp batteries (an just as illegal probably). I don't doubt that it does what it says I simply doubt whether it is on the up and up... Then I find this: "Here is a quote from Mathieulh:
psjailbreak’s so called “Backup Manager” (which is pretty much the only thing available to download on their website) is a debug package including a regular fself compiled with the (massively privately leaked) 1.92 sdk, The package itself is generated with Sony’s official sdk tool (make_package_npdrm revision 1203 probably from that very same sdk) that makes it illegal to share because I am quite sure psjailbreak staff doesn’t have the appropriate license to be using the official Playstation 3 SDK and its tools. The binary itself seems to use the usual sce apis when it comes to the gui or copying files over. It does run on a debug console and displays a “nicely” done GUI that lets you “backup” your game to the external or usb hdd and “run” them later on. Needless to say the backups wont “run” as their “backup manager” is just a regular fself running with game privileges and doesn’t make use of any exploits that I can think of. Needless to say that if their so called usb dongle is real (which I doubt) it does extensive use of leaked sony’s software and keys/certificates.
So the only question is it indeed real or fake."
Not to be one to jump to conclusions (that's a terrible name Tom...) but I think I'll hedge on the side of a knowledgable hacker with some cred in the scene before I spout amazement at the accomplishments of an unknown group... Now should I be wrong I shall surely eat my words, until then i'll err on the side of caution and doubt til then. There have been far too many fake hacks and chips in the last 5 or so years for me to just jump onboard immediately. We've been burned by these things before...

Yeah it's apparently developed by team jungle (of 360 fame) and team demonhades... So at least to me that lends a great deal of credibility to it's legitimacy...

I'll be grabbing one of theses as well, worst case it doesn't work right? I'll order it from somewhere with a decent return policy. I am leaning toward it being real and it'll be so nice to find out it is legit. All the it's fake topics around the net are disheartening.

the scepticism in the scene is totally understandable (and warranted), I hope it's real, gives me all the more reason to finally find an old backwards compatible and Linux capable unit...

I think I just might wait for someone else to copy the code for a downloadable free jailbreak - it's only a matter of waiting a few weeks after release before someone copies it.
