I recently started to work on a spare controller I have laying around and since I haven't made an electronics order yet I am starting with paint for now. I cleaned the controller as best I could then used a plastics paint that I picked up from Lowes which turned out nice color-wise but even after about a month the paint still feels tacky and you can still smell the paint lightly on the controller and your hands. and after sitting for a while the paint has started to come off the bottom pressure points. Is there a better paint to use or a different method I should take in the curing process? I have thought about baking the case to cure the paint better but am not sure whether it will make a difference.

did u try putting a clear coat on it cause i know for the first while u could smell the paint but after a while it wore off

Naw I did not use a clear coat, if that will make a difference i can try that and hopefully that might help

Yes, clear coating definately makes a huge difference on things that you are going to have a lot of contact with.
