i cant tell from your pics do they have a color? you can allways bust out the multimeter
-
na no color the bottom wire is ground since it was black and top wire looks live
i would use it but its at my dads house
-
the one without a shielding, the bare copper is just shielding from the rubber outside. the bare cable is nothing

thats what i cut off
-
I think i know what the problem is!
Your nail is to long......
-
lol very funny mate
i keep that one long as i have trouble opening clips ect
ok soldered it and lappy will not boot so no power ill get a new connector hope that does it
-
why did u cut that off? what are u trying to do? you know that you need the charger that is the correct v/w for your device thats generally why plugs fit or dont
-
right charger
resolder the plug back on
the :censored: who had it pulled the plug on it and pulled it out thinking he knows what hes doing. but all sorted
-
I know it's a moot point now, dont you have a multi meter to test it with?
-
you prolly dont want to deal with a multi meeter on live ac current. this would be very dangerous. Im glad you got it sorted (without killing yourself) lol
-
matt I believe its actually DC and whitetop meant AC adaptor cos ive never seen a connector like that used for AC or a laptop with an on board that gets direct AC input
-
yeah its ac sorry guys. sorted i think it was a center pin one for hp but no power
-
but no power
No power, still? Congrats, you most likely fried the laptop. Plugging a charger in wrong (in your case, the pins switched), overvolting, or pushing too many amps into a laptop will fry it.
Also: No laptop takes AC power. None. Absolutely none. The AC is converted into DC by the power adapter.

its ok found out the chap who tryed to fix before messed with the power box so his had to pay the guy for a new one so his got a fully working lappy now
