ill be using this board to manage all the fans and LED's. this way if i want to change out a fan or set of LEDs i just unplug them and switch them over.
the headers im using are apparently UV reactive, so they glow when under a UV light, we will see how that turns out.
the AM logo is part of the 12v line, ill have LED's behind the board shining through so its visible.

almost forgot the all important number!

So the PCB is pretty much finished, it took me a while to crimp all the wires using pliers. all i have to do is wire it to the 360 mobo and add LED's

little update on my progress so far

first of all im going to ditch that ugly PCB in the post above, it looks horrible and it dosnt really fit where i want it to. so ill redesign it later on.

Here's some pics of removing the memory card ports, these things are a :censored: to get off the mobo. I had no luck in trying to desolder them, the solder just wouldnt melt. brute force took care of it.

im not sure if it would even be needed without the ports in use, but i thought id show off the iphones camera  :w00t:
The ports are 3.3v USB so im considering hooking up a usb drive to the pins, and have extra internal storage.

so now the ports are out of the way, there is room to fit the next part of my project.

I have a few ideas for the case, but i want to get all the internal stuff done first. im waiting on a USB hub so i can continue, so thats all for now.

A new mod!

I did this on a spare faceplate i had, just to see if it will all fit, and get an idea of what its going to look like, none of the fans are mounted in yet.

yep it looks terrible i know, its just to get an idea of how it will fit. Im going to fill in the memorycard ports before i drill the holes on the next one, so its just 3 clean holes without the gaps in between.

Those 3 little 5v fans push alot of air, its going to lower the temp of the gpu a fair bit.

And ive designed another pcb so ill etch that later in the week.

little update

well i was going to wire up the wifi adapter internally, or so i thought.

I made an attempt at removing the tiny bicolour led, and ended up destroying a smt resistor/something above it, obviously it was important as the wifi adapter no longer works.

so.

Im still going to wire up everything as i would, so when i get around to buying another wireless adapter (probably after the mod off) i can just swap out the dead one. the actual board from the adapter is connected by miniUSB so its just a matter of swapping them, no soldering.

im not sure if it would be an easy fix, the parts didnt have any markings on them so i wouldnt know the rating.

i was trying to add another LED to the player1 LED and somehow ended up inverting all the colours to red? thought it had RROD when I turned it on...

nope, its a jasper with the ram underneath removed, and the ram on top of the board doubled in size. apparently they did this with some of the falcon boards too, trying to prevent ram issues i guess

ok so i painted everything this morning, ill be working on it tonight to try get this finished by tomorow, i have to mount all the fans to the faceplate, wire up all the LED's and switches. it too late atm to start cutting things with the jigsaw so ill cut out the acrylic tomorow morning.

Still have to paint the dvd drive, do all the LED's, cut the acrylic for the case windows, then assemble it back together.

Im not going to bother rushing to finish this, i dont want to quickly throw together a piece of junk just to enter it in time, id rather have a quality unfinished project that i can complete later on. if i do finish it, thats a bonus.

When your all done with it and everything, if you could get the cpu and gpu heat ratings on the console after its done I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to see how much it may help with the cooling.
