Post by: crashmasher on March 02, 2011, 07:08:46 PM: It appears that i have blown a chip on the underside of my motherboard. After research i have found that it controls the bd drive voltages and without it, no working bd drive. This seems to have put me out of the competition this year unless i find a fix, or enough money to go and buy a new ps3. Pics below but it seems like a lost hope for a fix

Post by: Bonz on March 02, 2011, 09:47:19 PM: awwwww... why don't you install CFW on it and remove the drive... then you can do something creative with all the extra space!.. also if youd like read me the numbers off the chip and i'll see if i got one on one of my ylod ps3's i can ship it to you C.O.D. i'd hate to see someone out because of something like this

Post by: crashmasher on March 03, 2011, 04:15:32 PM: Yea ive been looking at the cfw but i have 3.55 so ill do some searching, pretty sure their is one. thanks for the offer for the chip but i don't think its something that can be replaced (just by the way its integrated into the board).

Post by: crashmasher on March 03, 2011, 05:26:14 PM: I realize that this is probably not the best topic for this conversation but i just put it back together and popped in a game, and it worked? from my understanding that chip controls the blue-ray power and i should not be able to do this. If anyone has any info on the chip it would be appreciated. other than that i suppose ill continue working on it (unless it decides to blow my entire ps3 up).

Fookz I dont think he plans on cutting out his entry number, pretty sure the number is just there as a verification that the design is his plus they say you need to include your ID number in all your pics. Just a thought though, he may actually want his ID # but I doubt it.

laser etched the back today, looks pretty cool but it seems like the plastic more melted then cut, but i suppose it gives it a more rugged acid feel ,kinda.

Attached is a picture of the finished etch, will probably be posting a video soon of the actual job being done.
Next ill probably be painting a design on the front and back (most likely a green colour). possibly be adding a fan or two

still looks cool. Now i see where the fan is supposed to be.. at first i had no freakin clue what you were going to do with it.
