Yesterday i closed a deal on getting a bricked psp 3000 for $25.
I figured that it'd be easy to unbrick it, just like the others, all i needed was a pandora battery and a memory stick right?
Wrong.
it wont unbrick and i have rainmms installed on a 1gb memory stick and i made a pandora battery for the system too. As i got it used, i dont know how the guy bricked it. i am assuming he tried CFW.
So i know this is a pretty stupid question to ask, since the 3000 is apparently unable to be unbricked, but i, for one, am not falling for that.
Someone knows how and i really would like to get this psp working, of the now 2 that i have it would be the only one with an analog stick.
There are a couple ways i can go about it for sure, dont tell me some of them wont work.
-magic memory stick and pandora battery
-finding a datasheet for the flash chip with the fw on it and learn how to erase it
-replace the fw chip with a new one that has functional fw on it from a old psp (1000, 2000, 3000?)
are there any other ways i can try? which ones would work?
any help is appreciated,
thanks in advance,

another thing i would like to add, i heard online that pandora batteries dont work with the 3000 because it has a different power manager chip. if i were to switch that out with one from say a... 2000 or 1000 would a pandora battery work?

You my friend were just scammed for 25 dollars. You now have an expensive paperweight, maybe you can practice some soldering on it. No you can not use a different battery, and pandora and MMS will not work. There is no way to access the flash on the PSP now. No there is no port on the motherboard that let's you access the flash like on cellphones. If you could replace the flash chip, you would have to get it form another 3000 motherboard, and you can't get one separate so there would be no point in replacing it. And even if you did, it's not unbricking, you are replacing the flash altogether. Sorry about that, but make sure you research things before purchasing!!!

o well, i guess i'll have some spare parts if i get a 3000 sometime down the road.
afterall, i used parts from the 3000 analog stick to fix my 1000 analog since not even the stick the nub attaches to was there.
-
Hey that's good thinking!!! I like the mentality. And if you ever need to practice soldering, you have a motherboard you can solder too now.
-
i already have a 2nd ds to practice soldering on, i think i'll see if maybe i can upgrade the ram in my 1000 with the ram from this one so i can play some newer games easier, but which chip is the ram chip and would they be switchable?
-
I don't think that would work, and if it maby could it would be very very hard but i don't think it will it would problably just screw both your psps for good unless you buy a new mobo. i'll take it off your hands for $25 if you decide you don't want it,i think the only way to fix the 3000 is to buy a new mobo.
-
no, my 1000 is all i got, i dont think im selling it any time soon.
besides i have grown very attached to my 1000 i dont know what i would do if i lost it.
-
I meant the 3000, not the 1000. i would have afford alot more if i wanted the 1000 :)
-
well i have already used part of it in my 1000, but i would be getting my money back,
im not sure though, i might want to hold on to it and its parts because some of them can be switched with ones from the 1000 and i might be getting another 3000...
it was out of warranty when i got it and no type of service will be supplied to it because i live in canada, strangely enough sony would consider "unbricking" it if i was in the states... i wouldnt exactly call that fair but whatever.
i think i'll hold on to it for now though, if i ever want to sell it i'll be sure to send you the first PM.
-
sony would only consider unbricking it if it still had a warrenty and the stickers on it. They dont actually dont unbrick it either they just replace the motherboard because its cheaper for them. Dont ask me why... They just do.
-
try and buy another broken psp 3000 for $25 (make sure its not bricked and the motherboard is still good) lol then you just scored urself a perfectly good psp 3000 for $50
-
yea i have been trying but the problem is that kijiji hasnt got many ads for psp 3000's right now, let alone ones in my budget. i wish sony hadnt redesigned the chipset of the 3000...
-
i have a psp 3000 motherboard that works that i could sell you. But the only problem is it dosnt have any external sound. The headphone jack works fine though so you could just wire your speakers to the headphone jack.
-
i would totally take up on that offer but im out of cash right now, how much would you be asking?
-
$40.00 and thats with shipping.
-
Thank you very much.
