ok so a gy i know came up wit a car amplifier that is older han I am its like two feet long, poweracustic 1ohm 2400x2 watts. this thing is a mess, terminals are bent, terminal screws misssing, etc. ill put alllthat back together if i all works out. but the thing that stumped me is al amplifies have main power terminals, which are 12v/gnd/remote...well this brick has two setts of supply terminals (one on each end) that read 6v/gnd/remote....?
what would that mean to you?

THATS A GOOD AMP
It can crank about 8 speakers. How much do you think it's worth?
-
do I connect both terminals lke hooking up two amps lke I said there is main teminals at each end, 6v/gnd/remote.. tn the nomal other conectionsin t center. I am just not used to seeing two sets of power terminals, and its labled 6V instead of 12v
-
does it look like this:
-6v 0v +6v
Thats a 12v supply, but it just has a Common. You would have to split the 12v supply up with some high watt and high ohm resistors.
I'm not really clear what else it could be.
what is "6v/gnd/remote" ?? i don't know what you mean. But if its only gnd and 6v but theres two sets of those like this:
Terminal 1 ---> 0v +6v
Terminal 2 ---> 0v +6v
-
on each end of theamp there are power terminals (normally there is only one set) each set has three terminals
terminals are
6v, ground, remote then there is a speaker terminal, then the rca jacks, then another speaker, then there is 6v, ground, remote

dont ava clue bout the 6v thing.... all car amps i've ever installed have bin 12v
but the 2 sets of 6v, g , r could be in and out..... so you can wire 2 amps in line on the same power supply...
or its 2 amps in one box tht both have seperate power supplys....
-
well a 1 ohm amp is pretty good... but why its 6v with no split supply.... idk.
i googled it and it said the name was spelled power acoustik

I'm curious what you've done with the thing. Seems to me a picture of the terminals would help alot more than anything.
But i agree its weird to see a 6v amp either way

Hey matt, You think you could mod me a xbox control?
I'll ship you my control and you mod it, deal?

hey Matt I think I know whats going on here. All old cars pre 1953(?) came with a 6v system. My 1949 1ton panel is a 6v system. This amp could have been made for an audio system for an old car. I know they sell 6v radio's still, this is my first time coming across a 6v amp. It probably internally bridges the 6v points to make 12v, to power the amp.
Does it have pass through audio, cause if so the other 6v,g,remote could be pass through, and the amp could just be designed to run on 6v.

so, this post is old, I gave the amp away when I moved out of the condo. I got sick of kicking it under my desk. Never got around to messing with it.
