Title: Rapid Fire Problem
Post by: stunnedjack2 on April 22, 2011, 01:33:01 PM
So I installed a rapid fire chip into a wired controller and the player 4 led is not showing up, this is the second time its done that(put a diff chip into another controller). But the rapid fire works(tested on mw2) but the light wont come on, ive also installed the same chip into a wireless controller and it works fine. Is there something with the wired controllers, thats messed up

Also the controller randomly shoots 1 shot every 3 mins or so.

Thanks if u can help

I installed it exactly like the instructions said to but the led's not working

dunno about the random fire, but maybe the P4 led got toasted during soldering.  If you haven't checked that that might be a good place to start. I know there are some changed between the wired and wireless controllers but I'm sure you followed the wired pcb diagram.

hahahahhahaha..... sorry, the guy you bought it from didnt know what he was talking about?

the wiring is equal to gameplayrf with right trigger/button only. (assuming the chip is turned top down deadbug.)

but, I have never modded a wired controller, I am sure there are considerable differences, but my fist thought would be that there is no resistor on the led so it is probably fried, unhook it and see if the led works without the chip attached.

So I checked the X-S forums for LED layouts on wired controllers. This one does not match the old wired matrix or CG. I have a feeling you wired it to the correct end of the LED. But I also see you do not have a resistor for the LED. The wired controllers use 5V power, where the wireless use 3V. The LED probably got burnt the very first time you plugged it in.

Ya like he said that it its fine and said the swap the wires, and he didnt know what i was talking about. but ya I kinda gave up on the wired controller.
