Yeah... thats a good a good one.. i have the same one.. it comes with cd with the software u need on it. U r also goin to need some 12f683 as thats prolly the chip ur goin to use. If u havent programmed anything before... be carefull... the chip needs to go on a certain spot. It took me a while to figure that out when i got my programmer.

its pretty easy... just plug in the programmer, put the chip in the right spot, open up the software, open the hex code, click program, and then ur done! just need to install it next. Not sure where the chip goes right now as im on vacation... but i think pin 4 of the chip goes into pin 13 on the programmer. pin 1 of the chip faces pin 1 on the programmer. Thats pretty much all there is to it. pretty simple.

I personally use Olimex PIC MCP-USB (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/4) its seems to have gone up in price but it has always been good to me and it compatible with microchips MPLab.  I also use Pickit 3 (http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1406&dDocName=en538340) but you would need to make a breakout board with an ICSP header which isn't hard.  Also KEE sells the PICKIT 2 which is awesome if you decide you want to write your own code at some point because it has a built in debugger which will help you find you mistakes much faster.  But if you are only looking for a programmer to burn preexisting .hex code that looks like a good cheap programmer.

Yeah... u can make whatever u want. as long as u have the hex codes for them. This website offers many free hex codes but i dont suggest using them to sell as there r many of them allready and its pretty much "strealing their work"

that burner should work just fine with any .hex file you have, it just wont have any debugging software on it but if you decide write your own just make sure to comment every step it takes so you can have a better understanding of where its failing if you decide to try that.
