Have you tried a different cable?
I'm not quit sure what you mean. The programmer is brand new, just opened today. The cord that I'm using is the one that came with it. I'm not sure if i even have another one of this type of cable? :fear:

check your printer, or external usb hdd or something else that is USB... it is a USB A to usb B cable
http://www.datapro.net/products/usb-2-0-cable-type-ab.html
Dont buy from there, you can get them for like $1, ive even seen them at the 99cent style stores for 50cents (3ft)
What they are saying is to ensure that it is connected to the computer properly (possibly the cable is bad)
Also try a different USB port

I don't understand, so you all think it is the cable? Because i have a cable that fits already. I think that mabye the programmer may not be installed right>?
-
start with the easiest things first, then the obvious, then move more in depth...
Is the chip inserted properly?
did you install the right program?
do you have all of the support files that are needed (if any) - Some need .NET, etc...
Are you following the directions properly?
you get the drift...

I figured out the prblem. The program says that it is not connecting to programmer (comm3) . The programmer is installed through port comm4. How do i install it into comm 3?
-
You should be able to set what comm port it will use in the pic programing software's settings.
